Toon

Toon is an Italian player whose rare hidden class, Beasts of Prey, lets him assume the forms and traits of powerful animals. Introduced as an aggressive new Tzedakah Guild member who tries to fight Grid, he becomes one of Grid's most trusted real-world bodyguards and eventually abandons the violence that had defined his earlier life. (Chapters 117, 157, 827, 988, 1940, and 2058)

Biography

Recurring role and later consequences

Toon enters the Tzedakah Guild after proving his strength and immediately tries to challenge Grid, whose reputation as the Butcher of Cheonho-dong he misunderstands as an invitation to a street fight. Regas stops the confrontation, and Jishuka soon channels Toon's simple, combative temperament into useful work by placing him in charge of Bairan's security. His transformations and directness make him effective in battle, but this first role also begins moving him from uncontrolled intimidation toward responsibility for other people. (Chapters 117, 135, 150, and 153)

The decisive change comes when Toon returns Dainsleif rather than exploit Grid's mistake. Grid learns that Toon grew up as an orphan, entered the Mafia to survive, and had not killed anyone during his brief time there; the honesty behind the frightening exterior leads Grid to trust and equip him. Toon later leaves that criminal environment, becomes a core Overgeared member, and serves as Grid's bodyguard in reality. His vigilance is not merely professional: on the anniversary of Khan's death, he protects Youngwoo without intruding on his grief, showing that loyalty has become personal consideration. (Chapters 157, 827, and 988)

That loyalty remains costly. During the battle with Kubartos, Toon loses an arm while rescuing Biban and chooses a bear form suited to shielding him even though the decision appears likely to kill Toon as well. Survival allows his changed life to continue beyond combat: he lives among Grid's friends, cooks in the penthouse, uses old underworld contacts to help locate and protect Agnus, and receives fair work rather than being used through fear. By the end of the corpus, Toon understands the suffering caused by trampling the weak, has abandoned extortion, and finds happiness in the community created around Youngwoo. (Chapters 1245, 1700, 1940, 1953, 2004, and 2058)

Appearance and personality

Toon is a large, muscular man with grey hair that rises sharply, claw-like tattoos on both cheeks, and an intimidating manner. His early behavior—spitting, provoking strangers, and treating violence as ordinary—reinforces the impression of a gangster. His class radically changes that silhouette: he can become a huge lion, an eagle, a bear, or a hybrid whose human frame incorporates a beast's physical advantages. (Chapters 117, 150, 153, and 1940)

Although blunt and easily directed by people he respects, Toon has a strong conscience beneath his rough behavior. He refuses to steal a valuable weapon despite poverty, takes bodyguard work seriously, and repeatedly places himself between danger and another person. His later self-awareness is equally important: rather than romanticizing his criminal history, he recognizes the pain it caused and deliberately builds a life based on loyalty, protection, and properly compensated work. (Chapters 157, 827, 988, 1940, and 2058)

Abilities, classes, and skills

Beasts of Prey

Beasts of Prey grants Toon multiple transformations for different tactical needs. King of Beasts gives him the body and power of a giant lion, Lord of Heaven provides an eagle's mobility, and Half Man Half Beast combines human weapon use with animal strength. He can also adopt forms suited to sensing, pursuit, or defense; this flexibility lets him change from an attacker into a living shield when protecting Biban. His transformations have exceptional recovery, but lost limbs and overwhelming damage remain meaningful risks. (Chapters 117, 150, 153, and 1940)

Close combat and protective instincts

Toon was originally a swordsman and can use a greatsword effectively, although wrist blades suit his preferred close-range style. Techniques such as Lord's Strike turn a transformation's physical force into a concentrated attack, while his animal senses help him detect threats that ordinary perception misses. His greatest battlefield value nevertheless comes from judgment rather than a single attack: years of real violence and bodyguard work teach him when to intercept an enemy, evacuate a vulnerable ally, or accept injury so someone else can survive. (Chapters 117, 153, 827, 988, and 1940)

Relationships

  • Grid: Toon changes from a would-be challenger into Grid's guildmate and real-world bodyguard after Grid rewards his honesty. Their trust eventually extends to domestic life and sensitive missions involving Grid's friends. (Chapters 117, 157, 827, 988, 1700, and 2004)
  • Jishuka: Jishuka recognizes that Toon responds well to direct instructions and gives his aggression a constructive purpose by assigning him to protect Bairan. (Chapters 135 and 150)
  • Regas: Regas prevents Toon's first reckless clash with Grid, establishing an early limit on behavior that might otherwise have made Toon an enemy of his future guildmates. (Chapter 117)
  • Agnus: At Grid's request, Toon uses the international contacts left from his criminal past to search for Agnus and arrange protection, converting a harmful network into a means of safeguarding someone. (Chapter 2004)
