Susan
Susan is a talented imperial knight and cousin of Mercedes who abandons the empire for Zikfrector and joins the Neo Red Knights. Proud of her lineage, swordsmanship, and ancient runes, she refuses to yield to a disguised Grid and is killed in the resulting duel. (Chapters 1079, 1105, 1286–1287, 1290, and 1301)
Biography
Role in Yangbans, Gods, and New Legends
Susan turns against the imperial palace after deciding that loyalty to the empire is vain beside Zikfrector's greatness. Her shared lineage with Mercedes supports formidable skill, and she cuts through palace guards while following the grandmaster's cause. Later, as a Neo Red Knight, she crosses the walls of another palace with visible delight, relieved to act after a month of work she found unconvincing. (Chapters 1079, 1105, and 1286)
Susan confronts Grid while he is disguised as the Overgeared Queen. She believes talent and lifelong training should place her above Mercedes and refuses to accept that the apparent queen can overpower her. Susan accelerates twin-sword attacks and absorbs dangerous runes into her body even though the enhancement can ruin her afterward. Grid strips away the runes and kills her when she continues directing murderous intent toward Irene. The Neo Red Knights remember the event as Susan's death at the queen's hands. (Chapters 1287, 1290, and 1301)
Appearance and personality
Susan is described as a great beauty with a terrible wound across her forehead. Beneath armor, her body is muscular from lifelong training, and she often displays an openly triumphant smile. She is talented, enthusiastic, tenacious, and intensely proud, but her resentment toward Mercedes and certainty that effort entitles her to victory make defeat impossible for her to accept. (Chapters 1105 and 1286–1287)
Abilities, classes, and skills
Susan wields two swords with Vaintz-style swordsmanship, creating fast, irregular attack paths. Grinding the blades together builds acceleration for a near-supersonic surprise attack. Ancient runes provide elemental protection and can be absorbed to strengthen bones, muscles, or the mana core, but excessive reinforcement overloads the body and imposes a dangerous time limit. Grid's Revolve and rune removal expose those limitations. (Chapter 1287)
