Rigal

Rigal, known as the Sky King, is one of the Saharan Empire's Seven Dukes and commander of a vast air force. He bypasses Reidan's defenses, occupies Bairan, and attacks from an ancient wyvern with a large bow. Grid later kills him, removing the aerial variable from the empire's campaign and shocking nobles who know Rigal's standing. (Chapters 999–1004 and 1022–1023)

Biography

Role in East Continent and Imperial Reckoning

The Overgeared Kingdom concentrates its defense at Reidan because that is the empire's expected route. Rigal invalidates the plan by leading five thousand griffons and three hundred wyverns through anti-air surveillance and into Bairan. The maneuver demonstrates why the Sky King is a strategic variable rather than merely another duke: his force can ignore the terrain and fronts on which the defenders rely. (Chapter 999)

Rigal occupies Bairan in less than half a day. In the central square, he pauses before the statue of Khan, a local symbol whose meaning he does not immediately understand. His rapid conquest gives allied imperial forces reason to proceed without urgency because they believe the city and route are already secure. (Chapters 1000–1001 and 1003)

From the back of the ancient wyvern Allentica, Rigal uses a large bow at an altitude of eight hundred meters. His normal targets cannot survive the resulting archery, but the Overgeared defense changes that expectation. Grid ultimately kills him. Later recollections use the battle as a standard for deadly combined pressure, while another imperial noble reacts with disbelief that Rigal could have fallen to the same person. Appearance and personality

The bounded evidence emphasizes Rigal's mounted silhouette, large bow, and position atop an ancient wyvern rather than his face or clothing. His inspection of Bairan and the confidence created by its swift capture suggest composure, but the excerpts do not support a fuller personality portrait. (Chapters 1000 and 1002)

Abilities, classes, and skills

Rigal is a rider and master archer whose effective battlefield is the sky. Allentica carries him to extreme altitude, from which his shots are described as a reaper's scythe and normally kill anyone selected. His greater power is operational: thousands of flying mounts let his army bypass surveillance and conventional fronts. (Chapters 999 and 1002)

His method depends on aerial control and the assumption that defenders cannot answer his range. Grid's forces overturn that assumption and kill him; no later progression or survival is documented. (Chapters 1002–1004 and 1023)

Relationships

Grid is the defender who defeats Rigal after the Sky King seizes Bairan. The victory becomes evidence of Grid's ability to overcome one of the empire's most dangerous specialized dukes. (Chapters 1002–1004 and 1022–1023)

Khan has no living encounter with Rigal in the selected scenes. Rigal sees Khan's statue after occupying Bairan, linking the invader to the city's memory of the blacksmith it honors. (Chapter 1000)
