Nyangmong

Nyangmong is the player name of Kim Doohyun, a prominent Korean actor and the unique-class Pet Master. His ability to befriend and direct unusually large numbers of animals grows from a solo adventuring specialty into an important part of Reidan's defense, transport, festivals, and economy. (Chapters 360, 1004, and 1308–1309)

Biography

Recurring role and later consequences

Nyangmong encounters Grid while adventuring alone with nine pets, far beyond the three normally permitted to a tamer. Piaro diverts him into farm work, where the physically demanding labor raises his level and strength. He later sacrifices long-kept cats and dogs to open pet slots for much larger monsters, reluctantly turning his gift into military power, and Grid entrusts griffons and wyverns to his care. (Chapters 360, 566, and 1004)

As Reidan's representative, Nyangmong uses animals and monsters to overcome the region's isolation. His network carries travelers, supports the city, and becomes the Wyvern Group, whose appearances at a twice-yearly festival double as military parades. When Halle attacks, Nyangmong survives by reading the opponent through instincts refined while living with cats and directs aerial bombardment despite lacking exceptional personal combat statistics. By the late story, he owns the Overgeared Ranch and remains publicly associated with both acting and animal training. (Chapters 1308–1309, 1334, and 2057)

Appearance and personality

Kim Doohyun is described as a thirty-one-year-old man with outstanding looks befitting a major actor. His fame does not prevent him from traveling alone in Satisfy, and his attachment to animals is sincere rather than merely strategic. He is deeply distressed when military necessity makes him release old companions, yet accepts responsibility for the stronger creatures and people placed in his care. (Chapters 360 and 566)

Abilities, classes, and skills

As the unique-class Pet Master, Nyangmong can maintain up to nine pets and temporarily befriend monsters that are not ordinarily tameable. He turns super-large monsters into siege assets, raises Grid's aerial creatures, and organizes the Wyvern Group for reconnaissance and bombardment. Experience with cats also sharpens his predictive instincts, allowing him to evade attacks from a much stronger enemy and continue issuing commands. (Chapters 360, 566, 1004, and 1308–1309)
