Metatron

Metatron is Asgard's Angel of Contract, a former leader of the angels whose punishment binds most of eighteen pairs of wings. Temporary contracts let Metatron reclaim portions of that strength before Grid defeats the incomplete archangel. After full liberation, Metatron pursues contracts involving Chiyou and Old Dragons, then becomes a leading supporter of Dominion and humanity during the Complete Ending. Biography

Role in Baal, Asgard, and the Complete Ending

Metatron was once an angelic leader alongside Raphael and directly instructed other angels in combat, but was disqualified and imprisoned with most wings restrained. During the crisis involving Baal, Gabriel invokes Metatron through a contract, offering wings as collateral and temporarily releasing part of the authority called Rule. Metatron pursues Braham, defeats his clones through exceptional detection, and seeks enough additional contracts to recover the wings needed for freedom. (Chapters 1798–1799)

Raphael's wings provide further power, allowing Metatron to confront Grid with greater speed and technique. Metatron adapts to his unpredictable swordsmanship but loses contracted strength when the promised location of Chiyou ceases to be valuable collateral. Defeated while still incomplete, the archangel nevertheless distinguishes Grid from a mere replacement for Baal and warns him against pursuing Chiyou. Metatron has eighteen pairs of wings. During imprisonment, only one pair is openly usable, while six wings cover the face and head and twenty-eight restrain the body.
