Maxong

Maxong is the king of the water clan and a peak representative of his species. Grief over his daughter's loss initially leaves him withdrawn and angry, but the conflict involving Grid develops into cooperation between the water clan and Overgeared forces. When Grid's kingdom is later endangered, Maxong mobilizes without hesitation in repayment to the kingdom's savior. (Chapters 477–480, 727, and 729–730)

Biography

Recurring role and later consequences

Maxong first responds from a state of grief after losing his daughter. His anger becomes visible when Grid's party reaches the water-clan palace, and an unexpected battle follows. Even during that confrontation, Maxong is capable of recognizing extraordinary objects such as Iyarugt, showing that royal judgment and curiosity persist beneath his mourning. (Chapters 477–479)

Events outside the palace force cooperation. The Blood Carnival attackers are swept away by the combined action of the water clan and Overgeared members, changing the encounter from hostility into a shared defense. The supplied scenes do not isolate every term of the later alliance, but they establish Grid as the water clan's savior and make Maxong's later loyalty intelligible. (Chapter 480)

When his son reports danger to the Overgeared Kingdom, Maxong sees no reason to delay. He leads water-clan support into the conflict, joining forces powerful enough to challenge enemies who dismiss humans and allied species. His response is motivated by gratitude and reciprocal duty rather than conquest. (Chapters 727 and 729–730)

Later discussion uses Maxong as an example of a named ruler who represents the peak of a species and therefore exceeds ordinary unnamed individuals. It confirms the exceptional baseline behind his earlier authority. This is a retrospective statement about his standing, not a new battle or class advancement. (Chapter 1102)

Appearance and personality

Maxong stands over two meters tall and has an imposing water-clan body embedded with aquamarine scales. His expression is initially controlled and grief-stricken, changing visibly to anger when he finally responds. (Chapter 477)

He is proud, emotionally burdened, and capable of decisive gratitude. Maxong can fight unfamiliar intruders, but once Grid saves the kingdom he treats danger to Overgeared as a debt requiring immediate action. (Chapters 477–480 and 727)

Abilities, classes, and skills

Maxong's royal identity places him at the peak of the water clan species, making him much stronger than ordinary members. He participates in direct combat and commands the clan's military response. The evidence does not isolate named water techniques, exact stats, or a documented progression path, so comparisons to other species leaders should not be converted into borrowed feats. (Chapters 478–480, 730, and 1102)

Relationships

Grid changes from an opponent in the palace to the savior of Maxong's kingdom. Maxong later answers Grid's danger without hesitation, establishing reciprocal alliance. (Chapters 477–480 and 727)

Asmophel and Piaro fight within the allied force Maxong joins. Their power changes how hostile observers assess humanity, though that achievement is not Maxong's personal feat. (Chapters 729–730)
