Diworth

Diworth, better known as the Drunk Duke, is one of the Saharan Empire's Seven Dukes. He pursues Grid with magic, poison, and concealed weapons, only to encounter his former comrade Piaro and die by Piaro's hand. (Chapters 1011–1013, 1015, and 1037–1040)

Biography

Role in East Continent and Imperial Reckoning

Diworth appears among imperial nobles as a disheveled duke who drinks openly but still commands fear. He recognizes the residue of powerful magic and later joins the imperial response to a disturbance that he suspects is larger than isolated attacks. When he sees Piaro, he initially dismisses the farmer before him as a hallucination because the former great swordsman's pressure appears to have vanished. (Chapters 1011–1013, 1015, and 1037)

Diworth then chases Grid from Reidan and attacks him with lethal intent. Piaro identifies the danger and confronts the duke, bringing their old imperial history into the present. Diworth's position among the Seven Dukes and his varied killing methods do not overcome Piaro's transformed strength; Piaro kills him, and Diworth's body turns to ash. (Chapters 1038–1040)

Appearance and personality

Diworth has an oil-covered head, loose clothes, a deeply wrinkled red face, and a wine bottle close at hand. He scratches his stomach and loosens his clothing without regard for decorum, explaining the Drunk Duke epithet. The careless presentation conceals vigilance and violence: he responds quickly to battlefield clues and relentlessly follows Grid once he chooses a target. (Chapters 1011, 1015, and 1037–1038)

Abilities, classes, and skills

Diworth is a powerful magician whose attacks leave recognizable magical residue. His family's poison arts and concealed needles add assassination methods to his direct spellcasting, allowing him to threaten opponents without relying on one form of attack. His pursuit demonstrates speed and tracking ability, but he disastrously misreads Piaro's lack of conventional pressure as weakness. (Chapters 1012–1013, 1015, and 1038–1040)
