Debirion

Debirion is a kind human god of hunting whose protection improves believers' ability against non-player enemies. Centuries of pursuit by myth predators leave him isolated and distrustful until Grid saves him, after which Debirion chooses to serve Grid and join the Overgeared World. (Chapters 1621, 1624–1625, and 1631–1632)

Biography

Role in Apostles, Dragons, and the Overgeared World

Debirion was once the best-known human god and was widely served by monks, but myth predators drive him deep into a forest. He mistakes Grid for another being seeking his divinity and eventually offers his life rather than let a predator consume it. Grid instead destroys the pursuing mist and recognizes that Debirion has used hunting only to help feed people. Respect replaces suspicion, and Debirion leaves the forest with him. (Chapter 1621)

After Grid protects Garion and brings both gods home, Debirion cautiously asks for his own temple. Seeing the responsibility of other gods gives him a purpose he never understood when worship first transformed him. He chooses to serve Grid and helps establish the Overgeared World. Debirion then uses his knowledge of hidden human gods and forest domains to help Grid and Garion search for others threatened by predators. (Chapters 1624–1625 and 1631–1632)

Appearance and personality

Debirion has a shabby appearance that contrasts with extremely dense divinity. He approaches Grid awkwardly and speaks with caution after centuries of isolation. Fundamentally gentle, he hunted only when flesh and skins were needed, doubted whether his divinity had helped anyone, and was willing to sacrifice himself for the world. Joining other gods lets that humility become renewed purpose. (Chapters 1621, 1624–1625, and 1632)

Abilities, classes, and skills

Hunting God's Protection greatly raises PvE performance, and Debirion's powers become strongest in forests. His long worship gives him dense divine power and high growth potential despite little experience in direct battle. He can identify likely refuges of human gods and sense forest conditions, but the numerous servants of myth predators once reduced even his survival abilities to a prolonged flight. (Chapters 1621 and 1631–1632)
