Beleth

Beleth is the 13th Great Demon, called the Berserk King. His first descent is contained by Grid, while his later service as the demonic vanguard shows both formidable combat endurance and a willingness to use strategy rather than rely on rank alone. (Chapters 1247, 1252–1253, 1255, 1500, 1502, and 1515)

Biography

Role in Yangbans, Gods, and New Legends

Beleth descends during a simultaneous wave of great-demon invasions. Grid confronts him and prevents him from freely advancing, enduring the battle until the reverse-summoning condition is met. Beleth catches the infinite sword energies directed at him and turns them into his own weapons, forcing Grid to survive rather than secure an ordinary kill. The encounter ends with Beleth returned from the human world instead of permanently destroyed. (Chapters 1247, 1249, 1252–1253, and 1255)

During the Great Human and Demon War, Beleth commands the vanguard. Recognizing that a small number of human elites could become dangerous if united, he deliberately expands the battlefield to keep them apart. He then fights a lich for three days and nights while enduring the Overgeared Fleet's bombardment. Reinforcements leave him unable to continue; although his lower body is destroyed, he gets his upper body through a portal and escapes. (Chapters 1500, 1502, and 1515)

Appearance and personality

The supplied scenes do not establish a detailed physical design for Beleth. They characterize him through conduct: he questions Grid about following Muller's path, confidently handles hostile sword energy, and is more tactically cautious than demons who dismiss humanity. His decision to retreat when exhausted also distinguishes calculation from empty pride. (Chapters 1252–1253, 1500, and 1515)

Abilities, classes, and skills

Beleth possesses the status and physical power of a high-ranked great demon. He can intercept a mass of sword energies and repurpose them as weapons, and he remains combat-capable through three days of fighting and naval bombardment. His strength in the human world is subject to the usual limits of descent, and accumulated damage ultimately forces his escape. Later comparisons place some nominally lower-ranked demons above his manifested strength, showing that rank alone is not a complete measure. (Chapters 1253, 1329, 1500, and 1515)

Relationships

  • Grid: Grid blocks Beleth's first descent long enough for reverse summoning, but does not destroy his existence in hell. (Chapters 1249, 1252–1253, and 1255)
  • Sitri: Beleth and Sitri descend during the same great-demon crisis, creating simultaneous threats that divide the defenders. (Chapters 1247 and 1253)
  • Basara: Beleth's later vanguard operation is directed against the human alliance defending the empire during the Great Human and Demon War. (Chapters 1500 and 1502)
