Kim Namwoon

Kim Namwoon is the violent student whom Kim Dokja prevents from becoming Yoo Joonghyuk's companion in the first scenario. The principal Namwoon dies before that intended future begins, while other regressions show how the same hunger for violence and recognition can develop into loyalty when it is given a group, a leader, and something useful to protect.

Biography

A new world and a rejected companion

Namwoon understands the scenario's brutality faster than most adults in carriage 3807, but he does not merely accept a necessary rule. He enjoys the authority it offers. After beating an elderly passenger, he explains that the army will not come and persuades frightened bystanders that choosing a human victim is the only realistic path. His slogan that a new world requires new laws turns fear into permission for cruelty and briefly makes him the carriage's leader. When Dokja reveals that killing insects also satisfies the scenario, Namwoon loses both his argument and the order he wanted to command. (Chapter 5)

Dokja knows him as the Delusional Demon from Ways of Survival: a future member of Yoo Joonghyuk's party who would leave most of the carriage dead. That knowledge makes Namwoon an immediate threat, but it also means Dokja judges an adolescent partly through acts this particular version has not yet committed. Namwoon answers the challenge with Knife Fighting and Blackening, continues attacking after catastrophic injury, and is killed on the bridge. His last insistence that he does not want to die exposes fear beneath the performance without excusing the violence he personally chose. Dokja prevents the predicted massacre, changes Yoo Joonghyuk's expected party, and carries a fragment of Namwoon's memories and power through Bookmark afterward. (Chapters 6–10)

Companions in other regressions

Later Namwoons are alternate-world people, not the principal boy restored to life. In the 1863rd turn, Han Sooyoung gives the Delusional Demon a place in the group she reorganizes around Yoo Joonghyuk. He remains theatrical, aggressive, and eager for recognition, yet photographs with Lee Jihye and the wider party preserve a history of ordinary belonging that the principal route never allowed to form. His giant-robot obsession also becomes practical: inside Giant Soldier Pluto, he helps operate a collective weapon whose movement depends on resident souls and Probability. What Dokja once mocks as adolescent fantasy becomes a responsibility another group can use. (Chapters 220, 291–313, and 329–331)

That contrast does not retroactively prove that killing the principal Namwoon was wrong, nor does it make every version morally identical. It shows that the future Dokja feared was conditional. Under a leader who channels his appetite for attention into a role, Namwoon can fight beside others, preserve shared memories, and contribute to a plan larger than himself. Pluto's feats remain equipment-assisted and collective, and the 1863rd-turn relationship history belongs only to that world-line. (Chapters 291–313)

Monarch of the Great Abyss

The 999th-turn Namwoon survives the ruin of his regression as the Monarch of the Great Abyss, one of the Outer God Kings traveling with Secretive Plotter. His Giant Story, Delusional Design, and black flames give his old combat identity a cosmic scale, while Abnormal Adaptability has kept him alive by reshaping him for hostile worlds. The cost is instability of form and personality. Even so, the second-year student buried inside the king still reacts to familiar names, Lee Jihye, and the prospect of another confrontation with the captain whose lost world he has carried across the universe. (Chapters 474–481)

Namwoon follows the other 999th-turn companions toward the Oldest Dream, whom they blame for the regressions that consumed their lives. When the culprit proves to be a frightened young Kim Dokja, Namwoon initially responds with anger rather than instant forgiveness. He nevertheless accepts the group's decision to cut away the abusive memories surrounding the child and take him with them. This is not redemption for the dead principal-world-line student; it is the ending of a different Namwoon whose long companionship taught him to join a merciful choice without erasing his resentment. His latest confirmed route remains with Plotter, the child, and the other 999th-turn companions. (Chapters 509 and 514–516)

Appearance and personality

The principal Namwoon is a thin male student with dyed white hair, a school uniform, a name badge, and a Swiss Army knife suited to his military fixation. Blackening covers his body in dark energy and makes the slight teenager physically dangerous. The 1863rd-turn version retains white hair but appears with bandaged arms and gloves, while the 999th-turn version has a body and black-flame presence altered to an Outer God King's scale. Those forms express separate histories rather than a single continuous physical transformation. (Chapters 5–6, 296, and 474)

Across versions, Namwoon is excitable, cruelly playful, theatrical, and desperate to be noticed. He treats violence as proof of adaptation and uses bravado to obscure fear of insignificance and death. Alternate routes do not remove those traits; they redirect the audience he performs for. Praise from a leader, friction with companions, and specialized responsibility give him ways to seek recognition that do not begin with selecting a helpless victim. Abilities, attributes, and stories

Blackening and the Delusional Demon

The Delusional Demon attribute produces Blackening, translated in some early passages as Dark Awakening. Black energy wraps the body and sharply raises physical force, letting Namwoon dent the subway floor and continue fighting through injuries that would stop an ordinary human. The effect intensifies the close-range aggression already driving him; it does not supply discipline or tactical judgment. Dokja's Bookmark reproduces only a limited version through partial understanding, and the borrowed memories let Dokja anticipate the same attack patterns he is copying. The principal Namwoon's mastery ends with his death in the opening scenarios. (Chapters 6 and 10–32)

Knife Fighting and demonic combat

Namwoon begins with Knife Fighting and a Swiss Army knife, combining blade work with Blackening to pressure an opponent at arm's length. The early weapon cannot easily penetrate the hardened heart area of a demonic body, and his commitment to direct attacks makes him readable to someone carrying his memories. Alternate Namwoons later use shortswords, demonic Stories, and black flames, but those developments belong to lives that survived long enough to learn them; they cannot be assigned backward to the student in carriage 3807. (Chapters 6–10, 220, and 474–481)

Abnormal Adaptability and Outer God form

The 999th-turn Namwoon's Abnormal Adaptability alters him to remain viable in incompatible stages and hostile world conditions. It supports the Monarch of the Great Abyss's changing body and immense black-flame combat while leaving pieces of the human ego accessible through relationships. Adaptation is not a free upgrade: survival consumes stable personality and form. The Outer God King therefore embodies both extraordinary endurance and identity erosion, and a Stage Transformation that reenacts him does not make every Namwoon permanently the same being. (Chapters 474–481 and 532)

Giant Soldier Pluto operation

An alternate Namwoon helps operate Giant Soldier Pluto, a giant weapon whose internal system uses multiple souls and substantial Probability. His enthusiasm for giant robots makes him an engaged pilot, but the machine is equipment rather than an innate transformation. Its performance depends on other occupants and available Probability, and it can be forced to return or weaken when that support runs out. The distinction matters: Namwoon contributes judgment and power to Pluto; he does not create its entire body or possess its group feats alone. (Chapters 313 and 329–331)

Relationships

• Kim Dokja: Dokja opposes and kills the principal Namwoon using knowledge of a future massacre, then borrows Blackening through Bookmark. Meeting alternate Namwoons forces him to confront unrealized potential, but neither the useful 1863rd-turn companion nor the 999th-turn king becomes the boy he killed.

• Yoo Joonghyuk: Namwoon was meant to join Yoo Joonghyuk in the original third turn, a relationship Dokja prevents. Other regressions give that bond years to form, and the 999th-turn Namwoon continues living partly for his lost captain even after Yoo Joonghyuk becomes Secretive Plotter.

• Lee Jihye: The principal route leaves the two would-be party members without a shared history. Alternate photographs, arguments, and the 999th turn instead show long companionship, with enough familiarity that the sight of two Lee Jihyes can puncture Namwoon's cosmic menace.

• Han Sooyoung: The 1863rd-turn Han gives Namwoon's need for attention a controlled place inside her group. Her leadership demonstrates that assigning responsibility can change what his volatile temperament produces without making him gentle.

• Secretive Plotter and the 999th-turn companions: They are the community that survives the abandoned 999th turn. Namwoon follows them from vengeance toward an epilogue in which the young Oldest Dream is taken with them rather than executed.

• The principal Namwoon carries a Swiss Army knife, but it is not separately catalogued as a notable item. Giant Soldier Pluto is a collective weapon he helps operate in an alternate regression rather than his personal possession.
