Butterfly Dance Blade

The Butterfly Dance Blade is the custom weapon Chun Yeowun commissions during his academy years for use with the Butterfly Blade Dance. It is an early signature weapon, but it does not survive the fifth test.

History

A Blade for the Butterfly Dance

Academy blacksmith Ou Sunong examines Yeowun's existing weapons and agrees to make a blade suited to him. When the finished weapon is presented, its engraving reads "Butterfly Dance," directly tying it to Yeowun's adopted blade art. (Chapters 102 and 114)

Destruction and Replacement

The blade shatters during the fifth test, leaving its scabbard empty when Yeowun returns to the dormitory. He later uses the White Dragon Blade for the same martial art, so references to the Butterfly Dance after that point concern the technique rather than this destroyed weapon. (Chapters 119, 127, and 130)

Abilities and properties

• The weapon is purpose-built for the flowing, multi-strike Butterfly Blade Dance. (Chapter 114)
• Its destruction demonstrates that it lacks the exceptional resilience of Yeowun's later horn-forged blade. (Chapter 119)
