Gar Mojam

Gar Mojam, the Yellow River Strong, is the feared head of the Eighteen River Families whose fierce loyalty to family draws him into a revenge campaign against Chun Yeowun.

Biography

The power behind the River Families

Gar's reputation protects the three Gar brothers long before he appears personally. As one of the Strong Nine, fourth-ranked leader of the Forces of Evil, and chief of the Eighteen River Families, his name helps his relatives and associated pirates operate through fear while bribes keep the government away. Gar is notorious for sadism toward enemies but unusually devoted to brothers, nephews, and friends. After an earlier attack on a connected family, he tracked down and exterminated everyone related to the assailants, creating the warning that no one should oppose his kin. Yeowun therefore kills the three brothers rather than leave survivors who can bring Gar against him. (Chapters 299–301)

A mission shaped by revenge

During the Forces of Evil's civil war, Gar guards the injured West Strong King Hang Yen and contributes three percent of the alliance's funds. He worries that leaving will expose his master's weakness, but Hang Yen orders him to represent the faction at the non-aggression treaty and use the expected confusion to settle their debt with the Demonic Cult. The command aligns with Gar's private rage over his nephews. Unmarried and intensely protective of family, he has delayed revenge only because the civil war made action impractical. He reaches the treaty with hundreds of warriors and actively searches for the cultists he believes responsible. (Chapters 388–389)

When Yeowun reveals himself, Gar recognizes the young man described in information extracted from a witness and identifies him as the killer. He is the first faction leader to order an attack, turning a diplomatic gathering into the opportunity for revenge that both he and Hang Yen wanted. His commitment is also tied to old fear: the arrival of Wang Jing, who once slaughtered thousands of River pirates and took Gar's left eye, reopens a defeat Gar has never escaped. Gar has grown since then and prepares his Water Dragon Sword when Wang targets him, but Noh Do-kyung intervenes before the duel and orders Gar to lead the River Families against the podium instead. The campaign ends in devastation rather than satisfaction. Yeowun's Sky Flash Air Swords fall across the field, shattering ordinary warriors and overwhelming the seventeen families no matter how loudly Gar orders them to defend. He narrowly avoids one descending sword, but even the blocked force makes both hands feel as though they will crack. Watching subordinates vanish convinces him that three allied factions badly misjudged a Divine Master who can annihilate them alone. The last direct evidence leaves Gar alive and terrified amid the assault; it does not provide a confirmed death scene. (Chapter 396)

Appearance and personality

Gar is a middle-aged man with a black patch over the left eye Wang Jing took. He is proud, sadistic toward enemies, financially and politically capable, and fiercely loyal to the small circle he treats as family. That loyalty makes him dependable to Hang Yen but also makes revenge override the evidence that Yeowun is far beyond him.

Strong Nine cultivation

Gar is a top warrior of the Forces of Evil and one of the Strong Nine. He can recognize Divine Master phenomena, gather substantial internal energy into a weapon, and survive the edge of Yeowun's large-area Sky Flash bombardment when ordinary elites are destroyed in one hit. His exact formal realm is not stated. Wang Jing's earlier victory and Yeowun's later assault establish the limitation clearly: Gar is formidable within his faction but not competitive with the story's highest masters. Water Dragon Sword

Gar channels internal energy into the Water Dragon Sword when Wang Jing prepares to throw a weapon at him. The scene establishes the sword as his chosen combat focus, but Noh Do-kyung interrupts before Gar can demonstrate the technique's full form or defensive result. Later, holding his sword with both hands lets him avoid or partially defend against a Sky Flash Air Sword, though the impact nearly cracks his hands from within. The corpus does not explain the art's full mechanics beyond weapon reinforcement and prepared defense. (Chapters 393, 396)

Command and political power

He commands seventeen River families and hundreds of fighters, finances part of the Evil alliance, and can mobilize fear, bribery, and personal reputation across the Yellow River. Those tools protect piracy and make his orders effective against conventional opponents. They cannot solve a power disparity: formation and repeated defensive commands do not protect the families from a multi-target Divine Master technique. (Chapters 299, 388–396)
