Bunwang

Bunwang, whose real name is Wang Bun, is Wang Jing's eldest child and Wang Yogun's protective brother.

Biography

The Search for Medicine

Bunwang encounters Chun Yeowun's party after finding Gam Miyan dead. Believing the strangers killed the healer whose medicine keeps his sister alive, he attacks and is knocked unconscious by a finger strike. Once captured, he introduces himself with a reversed form of his true name, Wang Bun, to hide his connection to Wang Jing. Yang Danwa's fabricated explanation persuades him that he attacked the wrong people, and he apologizes directly. (Chapters 315–316)

He initially withholds the severity of Wang Yogun's Cold Blood Blockage, admitting only that Gam Miyan supplied medicine. Yeowun's threat forces him to explain that the doses are nearly exhausted and the intervals between seizures are shrinking. The news that Gam Miyan's grandmother is the Godly Doctor turns the captured group into his best chance of saving Yogun. (Chapter 316)

Yogun's Berserk State

Bun senses Yogun's cold eruption even while his own internal energy is sealed and immediately guides the party toward her. He has stopped earlier episodes by sealing her blood points, so he approaches despite the increasingly frozen landscape. This time her output is far beyond his experience: she does not recognize him, freezes both his arms through direct contact, and automatically forms an ice barrier that blocks his desperate kick. Yeowun intervenes before Bun freezes to death. Bakgi warms Bun's arms with internal energy, but the tissue remains purple and injured. Even so, Bun concentrates on purging the cold and urges the group to save his sister rather than attend to him. He is astonished when Yeowun penetrates the ice field and suppresses an outbreak that Bun believes only his father could handle. (Chapters 317–319)

The Godly Doctor and the Wang Family

At the Demonic Cult outpost, Bun learns that the young martial artist is its Lord and that the physician examining Yogun is truly Gam Rosu. He obeys Yeowun's instruction not to reveal how Gam Miyan died, preserving the deception needed to secure treatment. His hope briefly collapses when Gam Rosu explains that ordinary medicine only delayed the disease rather than curing it. (Chapters 319–321)

When Wang Jing arrives, the hidden lineage becomes explicit and Bun answers to his real family name. During the final medical crisis, he supports choosing the only treatment Gam Rosu believes can save Yogun, telling his father that discomfort and pride have no value if his sister dies. After Yogun recovers, Bun kneels with his father and sister to enter Yeowun's organization in repayment. (Chapters 322–336)

Appearance and personality

Bun carries two greatswords and follows the broad martial tradition of his father. He is straightforward enough to attack over what he believes is a murder, apologize when persuaded he is wrong, and thank Bakgi without posturing. He attempts to conceal his family background, but is a poor sustained deceiver once Yeowun applies pressure.

His defining trait is devotion to Yogun. He risks her uncontrolled cold, continues helping while injured, and accepts a humiliating medical necessity because her survival matters more than family pride.

Martial arts and abilities

Paired Greatswords and Internal Energy

Bun carries two greatswords patterned after Wang Jing's Dual Martial Sword discipline. He can circulate enough internal energy to break ordinary bindings once his sealed blood points are released and move rapidly across several miles of mountain terrain. The supplied chapters do not show him completing his father's most advanced paired formations. (Chapters 313–317)

His first clash with Yeowun ends before a full sword technique develops, establishing the limit of his level. A single finger strike renders him unconscious, and Yang Danwa judges him below the cult's highest fighters despite the intimidating weapons. (Chapters 314–315)

Blood-Point Sealing and Cold Resistance

Bun knows how to seal Yogun's blood points and has successfully interrupted prior berserk episodes. The method blocks energy circulation long enough for medicine or restraint to take effect, but it is not a cure. During the documented eruption, Yogun's yin qi is too powerful for him to reach the points safely. (Chapter 317)

He protects his body with internal energy after Yogun freezes his arms and later circulates energy with Bakgi's assistance to expel the cold. This resistance prevents immediate loss of the limbs but does not stop tissue damage; his right arm remains awkward and discolored when the party leaves. (Chapters 317–319)
