Tobi

Tobi is a young vampire whose inherited status and private training initially make him the leader of a group that bullies Minny. His friendship with Minny and Abby gradually becomes more important than his mother's schemes, leading him to expose an ambush he was ordered to enable. Under Edvard's training he develops from a frightened child who cannot summon blood aura under pressure into a notably capable young combatant. (Chapters 2015–2072 and 2425)

Biography

Bullying Minny and losing his authority

Tobi enters Minny's class as its popular, self-proclaimed strongest student. He mocks her missing father and uses his social position to turn the other children against her. When Minny refuses to fight, he grabs Abby by her pigtails and strikes her to force Minny's intervention. Minny then overwhelms him and breaks his legs, destroying the reputation on which his control of the class depended. (Chapters 2015–2022)

The adults around Tobi initially reinforce rather than correct that behaviour. His mother, Sonia Toppy, joins other parents in trying to remove Minny from school, only for Quinn to expose how little authority their status gives them against him. Sonia then coaches Tobi to apologise and attach himself to Minny so the family can use that access. Tobi follows the instruction and begs to join Minny and Abby, while privately acknowledging that the apology began as a plan rather than sincere reform. (Chapters 2024–2032)

Friendship, fear, and his mother's ambush

Minny makes Tobi serve the girls before allowing him to play with them, then begins teaching both children blood-aura control. Tobi can produce aura once in practice but cannot repeat it. During a beast attack he freezes and fails to summon it at all; Minny saves him, and Tobi responds by calling for the teachers to help her rather than protecting his former pride. Dependence on the child he had targeted begins turning his assigned role into genuine loyalty. (Chapters 2032–2040)

Sonia later uses Tobi to lure Minny, Abby, and Abby's father into an alley where hired attackers are waiting. Tobi begins by obeying, but when the assault starts he warns the others, clings to an attacker to delay him, and tells his friends to escape. He subsequently admits the full plan to Layla and Minny. Although he still wants help for his family, he explains that time with Minny made her a real friend; choosing her safety over his mother's order is the clearest break with the values that produced his bullying. (Chapters 2048–2055)

Training and a lasting school friendship

At the school assessment Tobi shows the benefits of private practice, wins his first bout, and challenges Minny. He produces a blood swipe despite his age, but Minny defeats him without treating the match as revenge. Edvard selects him for further instruction, and after six months Tobi can call on his aura freely. Minny and Abby accept him back into their group, while Edvard also tries to teach him that winning another person's trust matters more than forcing obedience. (Chapters 2062–2072)

Years later Tobi remains an excitable but loyal friend. He welcomes Minny back after a long separation, trains until he can launch two accurate blood swipes in an X, and takes pride in his improvement while acknowledging that younger Galen's control is far beyond his own. During the school attack he wants to stay beside Minny, but Abby pulls him away so Minny can fight without protecting them; Tobi reframes the retreat as a promise that he will become strong enough to protect her one day. When the settlement is attacked again, he reassures the frightened students that Minny will defend them, although the appearance of a giant enemy frightens him as well. He remains alive when last shown. (Chapters 2305–2317, 2425, 2446–2453, and 2523–2532)

Appearance and personality

Tobi is a vampire boy of school age; the supplied corpus does not give a stable, detailed description of his hair, eyes, or clothing. He begins proud, status-conscious, and willing to hurt a weaker child to provoke a fight. Defeat alone does not reform him, but repeated protection and companionship do. He remains competitive and boastful after changing sides, yet increasingly uses that confidence to encourage his friends and admits when another child has better control. His decision to betray Sonia's ambush also shows that his continuing concern for his family does not prevent him from rejecting a harmful order. (Chapters 2015–2029, 2039–2055, 2425, and 2523–2532)

Powers and abilities

Young-vampire physiology and combat training

Tobi has the strength, speed, fangs, and healing potential of a vampire child, supplemented by private combat lessons obtained through his family. That background makes him more technically prepared than most classmates and lets him win an assessment bout, but it does not place him near an adult vampire or protect him from Minny. Fear is initially a decisive limitation: knowing how aura should work does not let him summon it during a real beast attack. (Chapters 2015–2022, 2033–2040, and 2062–2065)

Blood-aura control and blood swipes

Minny first shows Tobi how to call out blood aura. He produces it inconsistently, then learns under Edvard until he can summon it freely. His principal demonstrated attack is the blood swipe: at the assessment he launches one unusually early for his age, and later he produces two accurate swipes that cross in an X and target a training doll's chest and head. The later display has more raw force than Abby's finer cut, but Tobi admits that his control remains below Galen's. No transformation, inherited family ability, or adult-level blood technique is demonstrated in his appearances. (Chapters 2033, 2064, 2072, 2425, and 2450)

Relationships

  • Minny: Tobi first bullies Minny and uses Abby to force her into a fight. Minny defeats him, later teaches him aura, and repeatedly protects him. His choice to warn her about Sonia's ambush turns their imposed association into a durable friendship. (Chapters 2015–2055, 2072, and 2305–2532)
  • Abby: Tobi initially assaults Abby because she is Minny's vulnerable friend. Abby later advocates giving him another chance, trains beside him, and becomes the practical counterweight to his impulsiveness, including dragging him away from a battle Minny can handle better without them. (Chapters 2017–2029, 2033, 2072, and 2446–2453)
  • Sonia Toppy: Sonia treats her son as an instrument for restoring family influence and orders him to lure Minny into an ambush. Tobi still seeks mercy for his family, but ultimately exposes her plan and refuses to let obedience make him responsible for his friends' deaths. (Chapters 2024–2055)
  • Edvard: Edvard recognises Tobi's early blood swipe, selects him for training, and develops both his aura control and his understanding that loyalty must be earned. (Chapters 2064–2072)
