Slicer

Slicer is a five-spike Dalki commander whose exceptionally long, sharp tail and attraction to dangerous opponents make her one of the Dalki's principal frontline threats. She nearly defeats Hilston by deliberately injuring herself to drive her Dalki growth, but the accumulated damage leaves her vulnerable to a combined attack led by Quinn and Sil. Her later animated remains and the New Gen Dalki modelled on her traits are separate entities rather than continuations of Slicer's mind. (Chapters 809, 1105, 1231–1240, 1267, and 1554–1556)

Biography

A commander seeking evolution

Slicer sits among the senior Dalki when their search for the demon-tier beast points toward human territory and renewed war. She is the only female Dalki at the command meeting and already bears five spikes, but rank alone does not satisfy her. When a newly evolved Dalki challenges for a leadership position, Slicer takes the contest herself, removes one of his spikes before he can react, and kills him despite Graham's need for useful soldiers. Her decision establishes both her confidence and her preference for proving strength through lethal combat rather than conserving the Dalki population. (Chapters 809 and 1105)

Graham consequently sends Slicer and One Horn to different fronts so humanity's strongest fighters cannot combine against either of them. Slicer is not shown debating that strategic assignment; her own pressure is the possibility of encountering someone strong enough to force her next evolution. That desire, rather than a conventional military objective, draws her to the unusual energy emitted by Hilston's demon-tier armour aboard the Cursed ship. (Chapters 1122 and 1231)

The fight with Hilston and her death

Hilston's teleportation, elemental attacks, and Disruptive Pulse initially let him strike while Slicer is immobilised. She treats the damage as an opportunity: Dalki grow stronger when injured, and she believes a life-threatening fight can produce a sixth spike and make her the overall Dalki leader. When the armour's limited Pulse charges run out before she falls, she recognises the reversal and presses forward rather than retreating. (Chapters 1231–1233)

Slicer then cuts off her own tail repeatedly. Each wound closes and produces a longer, faster, sharper replacement, while she uses the severed tails as hand-held weapons. The tactic lets her cut off Hilston's hands, split his demon-tier armour, and leave him defeated, but it also costs so much blood that her sight and judgement deteriorate. Her development toward greater power is therefore real but self-destructive: she reaches a condition where her tail can overcome defences that previously stopped it, yet the hoped-for sixth spike never appears. After Sil kills Hilston, Slicer immediately chooses Sil as the stronger opponent and severs part of his arm. Quinn returns before she can finish the Blade group, using an unbreakable sword, shadow, Qi, and Nitro Accelerate to contain her tail while the others prepare a combined strike. Boneclaw pierces her scales, Quinn and the Blades add internal damage, and the joined lightning of Sil, Pai, and Vicky destroys her upper body. Her final instinct is at last to flee, but it comes too late; the corpse and Graham's reaction confirm the original Slicer's death. (Chapters 1238–1240)

Remains, imitation, and disputed continuity

Peter later discovers Slicer's intact lower half and uses it to create a Lesser Wight called Legs. The creature retains the tail's speed and cutting power and follows Peter's commands, but it has no head, cannot regain missing body parts, does not become stronger through spilled blood, and has the Lesser Wights' finite, nonrenewable durability. Legs can bisect vampires, pierce a six-spike Dalki's eye, detach and reattach the tail, and help drive that tail through a five-spike Dalki's heart. These feats belong to an animated remnant controlled by Peter, not to a resurrection of Slicer's consciousness. (Chapters 1267, 1283, 1298, and 1547)

Graham later fields a New Gen Slicer whose DNA reconstruction gives her the original's tail trait. The project repeatedly injures and heals developing Dalki to force five-spike growth, but the source explicitly says the resulting beings are not exact clones of the dead leaders. Quinn cuts the new Slicer's regenerated tail twice, drains her energy, and kills her. This second death concerns the New Gen individual, not the already deceased commander described in this article. Appearance and personality

Slicer is a female Dalki with five spikes, abnormally long limbs, wings, and a large dragon-like tail sharp enough to give her nickname. Her tail normally sways when she is excited, making her pleasure in a promising fight visibly distinct from ordinary aggression. She is proud, impatient, and intensely competitive: she criticises pointless leadership challenges but then kills the challenger herself, ignores Graham's concern for Dalki survival, and values the possibility of reaching six spikes above preserving her own body. Only when the final combined attack is already committed does self-preservation overcome that fixation. (Chapters 809, 1105, 1231–1239)

Powers and abilities

Five-spike Dalki physiology

As a five-spike Dalki, Slicer has extreme strength, speed, resilient scales, flight, and recovery. Damage increases her physical power, allowing her to become faster and stronger throughout a sustained fight. Hilston's lightning and fire injure but do not immediately stop her, and even severe burns and broken internal structures heal enough for her to continue. The amplification is not limitless: blood loss, damage that exceeds ordinary healing, and repeated self-amputation leave her mentally unsteady and eventually unable to recover from the group's combined attack. Regenerative slicing tail

Slicer's signature tail is an inherent extension of her body rather than a human-style ability. It attacks faster than most opponents can perceive, cuts lightning paths and dense materials, and can penetrate or shear demon-tier protection after sufficient growth. She can alter its angle while attacking, extend it across a wide area, wrap targets, anchor or pull her body, and wield detached earlier tails as spears or whips. Contact that prevents teleportation and the tail's reach let her pressure Hilston even when his movement power would otherwise control the distance. (Chapters 1231–1236 and 1818)

The tail regenerates when severed, and repeated regeneration during the Hilston fight produces progressively larger and sharper versions. That progression has a direct cost: each replacement spills substantial blood, takes increasing effort, and leaves Slicer closer to collapse. Teleportation can evade it, Disruptive Pulse can suspend her action, sufficiently durable armour can initially stop it, Quinn's shadow can slow its path, and an unbreakable blade backed by speed and Qi can intercept it. The original tail remains formidable after death when Peter animates the lower body, but the resulting Legs lacks Slicer's damage-amplification trait and cannot repair its Lesser Wight durability indefinitely. Combat judgement

Slicer rapidly identifies Hilston's teleportation pattern, recognises when Disruptive Pulse has exhausted its charges, and changes from single-tail strikes to multiple weapons and wide sweeps. Her judgement is strongest while reading an opponent's movement and weakest when the prospect of evolution narrows her attention. That fixation makes her repeatedly accept damage, underestimate the cumulative blood loss, and continue attacking after the safer choice would be withdrawal. Her latest living state is death in Chapter 1239; later tail feats belong to Legs or to the separate New Gen Slicer. (Chapters 1231–1239 and 1554–1556)

Relationships

• Graham: Graham values Slicer as one of the Dalki's strongest commanders but condemns her waste of potential soldiers. Her death forces him to revise his war plans, and his later research produces a distinct New Gen Dalki carrying a similar trait. (Chapters 1105, 1122, 1240, and 1554–1556)
• Hilston: Hilston gives Slicer the life-threatening contest she believes can force a sixth spike. She adapts through his strongest counters and effectively defeats him, but the self-inflicted cost of doing so contributes to her own death immediately afterward. (Chapters 1231–1238)
• Quinn and Sil: Slicer attacks Sil after he kills Hilston and initially cuts through his hardened arm. Quinn then coordinates the defence that lets Sil, Pai, and Vicky deliver the lethal strike. (Chapters 1238–1240)
