Norvic

Norvic is a fourth-family Viscount who joins Quinn's Nest Crystal expedition. Initially suspicious of the king and sympathetic to the red side, he becomes a practical defender of Quinn and the expedition after seeing the danger firsthand. (Chapters 1498–1556)

Biography

Challenging the Nest Crystal expedition

Norvic enters the expedition openly dissatisfied that the fourth-family group was sent back into a lethal nest area while the other leaders are at war. Rumours say that he dislikes Quinn and favours the red side, but Quinn interprets his objections as concern for his family vampires and asks him to explain the danger. Norvic responds with the crucial warning that blood energy and abilities attract more doppelgangers even though the creatures cannot copy those abilities. (Chapters 1498–1501)

When copies surround the party, Norvic maintains formation rather than breaking it to rescue Quinn, reasoning that doing so would kill everyone. He calls the coordinated opponent switch and later uses his own body and strength to twist and tear the skin of a Ronsten copy. After Quinn rescues the group, Norvic greets the real Ronsten warmly and orders everyone to defend the king and ship until Quinn finishes absorbing the crystal. (Chapters 1502–1504)

Defending the ship and returning to war

During the extended beast assault, Norvic again forbids blood powers because the group has no replacement blood and physically slams attackers instead. Once the ship is repaired, he worries that Quinn's unresponsive transformation will delay their return while the settlement is under attack. His urgency is directed toward helping the settlement rather than opposing Quinn; when Quinn wakes, Norvic drives the ship toward the fighting as quickly as possible. (Chapters 1528 and 1553–1556)

Appearance and personality

Norvic is an older-looking vampire with a notably large belly, unusual among the vampires Quinn has met. He is blunt, skeptical of unexplained authority, and protective of fourth-family personnel. His humor about his belly and his practical battlefield orders show composure, while his later urgency to help the settlement reframes his initial hostility as factional concern rather than simple disloyalty. Vampire physique and field command

Norvic has an inner-castle Viscount's enhanced vampire strength, speed, durability, and blood powers. He can grapple a doppelganger copying Earl Ronsten and slam large beasts with physical attacks. The expedition deliberately avoids blood energy and abilities because their use attracts additional copies, and later conserves blood during the siege because no supply is available.
