Luce

Luce is one of the first Demon Kings created by Immortui and, with Tenbris, one of his oldest right-hand agents. He investigates disturbances across the Red Space, battles the coalition gathering Demon King blood, and is killed only after Mundus joins Peter and Russ against him. (Chapters 2392, 2477–2513, and 2520–2521)

Biography

Immortui's ancient lieutenant

Luce and Tenbris are described as the first creations of Immortui's power and the first of their demon races. Millennia at Immortui's side give them unusual freedom to voice concern or excitement directly to him. Luce remains loyal when Immortui prepares his later campaign and warns other demon forces that trouble may be approaching. (Chapter 2392; Chapter 2477)

He investigates the champions' territories when their normal life energy appears altered. At Pultra's region he tests what happened and uses his white power to absorb a body into a mark on the ground. His concern is strategic rather than compassionate: Luce seeks escaped or hostile champions because their absence could threaten Immortui's plans. (Chapters 2478–2480)

Fighting the blood-gathering group

Luce confronts Peter, Hikel, Russ, and their familiars when they seek his blood for Quinn. His flowing white substance blocks blood attacks, binds bodies, forms shields and weapons, and rapidly adapts to the group's techniques. Peter ultimately tears away an arm and secures the needed blood, but Luce regrows the limb and continues fighting. (Chapters 2486–2494)

The Divine Brigade interrupts the battle, and Luce opposes it as readily as the intruders. His “Tree of Death” pins multiple Divine beings, showing that shared enemies do not make him an ally. Once the interruption passes, Luce assumes his full white demon form and overwhelms Hikel, Russ, and Peter; even Hikel's self-destructive attack leaves him unharmed. (Chapters 2494–2496 and 2505–2507)

Death under combined attacks

Mundus enters with a sword that applies his time-slowing power directly to Luce, creating openings the exhausted group could not make alone. Celestial beams occupy Luce's defence while Peter and the Boneclaw strike, and Russ uses the borrowed sword with the Black Swordsman's negation to pierce Luce and suppress the white substance that is part of his body. (Chapters 2512–2513)

With Luce's protection disabled, Peter combines his head tails into an axe and bisects him. His body falls in two, and later survivors explicitly state that Luce is no longer alive. The group had already delivered his blood to Quinn, so later use of that blood does not imply that Luce survived. (Chapter 2513; Chapters 2520–2521)

Appearance and personality

Luce initially has a humanoid body, but his defining visual trait is the blank white, liquid-like substance he produces. In full demon form the material becomes a durable white coating continuous with his body. The corpus does not give his height, hair, eyes, clothing, or the uncoated body's colouring. (Chapters 2478, 2486, and 2505)

He is observant, patient, confident, and loyal to Immortui. Luce restrains impatient subordinates, investigates anomalies rather than dismissing them, and recognises which opponent is most troublesome. His confidence becomes disbelief only when celestial suppression and several attackers finally pierce his demon form. (Chapters 2477–2480, 2490, and 2512–2513)

Powers and abilities

White substance manipulation

Luce produces a fast, white liquid-like power that leaves persistent trails in the air. He shapes it into binding strands, poles, spears, spikes, shells, and shields; the shields disperse incoming energy, while the bindings wrap and slam opponents. He can extend spikes from formed weapons or his own body and spread the substance through the ground to attack from below. (Chapters 2478, 2486–2490, 2506–2507, and 2512)

“Tree of Death” spreads multiple white nodes across an area, piercing or wrapping Divine beings until they cannot move. The substance can also engulf a target and reduce it to a white floor mark. The corpus does not establish whether that result is death, storage, or transport, nor does it state a maximum range or volume. (Chapter 2478; Chapter 2496)

Regeneration and demon form

Luce regrows an arm after Peter removes it. His full white demon form makes the substance part of his body, greatly increasing durability and allowing him to survive Hikel's explosion unharmed. Ordinary ability negation cannot simply erase that living coating, and even powerful attacks initially leave only chalk-like marks. (Chapters 2490, 2494, and 2505–2507)

The form is not absolute. Mundus's celestial energy strains it, a time-imbued sword slows it by contact, and Russ's Black Swordsman power suppresses it once driven inside Luce through two blades. Deprived of the coating, Luce can be physically bisected by Peter. No reformation or post-death regeneration occurs. (Chapters 2512–2513)

Energy sensing and combat

Luce senses major changes in the Red Space's mist from far away and correctly recognises when another Demon King releases a demon form. He fights multiple high-level opponents with formed spears, shields, and close-range reactions, but distraction can prevent him from forming a defence in time. (Chapters 2488–2490)

Relationships

  • Immortui: Immortui created Luce and keeps him as a trusted right-hand Demon King. Luce investigates threats and fights to preserve his plans.
  • Tenbris: Tenbris is Luce's fellow first creation and ancient peer at Immortui's side.
  • Peter: Peter helps obtain Luce's blood, continues the battle despite severe injury, and delivers the killing blow after Luce's defence is suppressed.
  • Russ: Russ copies and counters Luce's power, then uses the Black Swordsman's negation to expose his natural body.
  • Mundus: Mundus's celestial intervention changes the losing battle. His beams and time-infused weapon create the conditions for Luce's death.

Items

No manifest-configured inventory item is assigned to Luce. His white spears, poles, and shields are temporary body-power constructs rather than carried equipment.
