Lee

Lee is the leader of the thirteenth vampire family and the father of Fex and Silver. His concern for family reputation initially reinforces vampire law, but repeated threats to Fex draw out a more protective loyalty: Lee opposes Fex's execution, preserves his discoveries, and later fights beside the human–vampire alliance. His string ability culminates in directly puppeteering Layla's sword arm against Graham, an intervention for which Graham kills him. (Chapters 140, 353–357, 467–471, 848–850, 1435, and 1561–1564)

Biography

Family authority and Fex's trial

Lee first appears after Fex reaches Earth without permission. He worries that the breach will expose vampires and disgrace the family, yet his response is retrieval rather than abandonment: he assigns Silver, the family's Blood Knight, enough resources to bring Fex home secretly. His anger mixes political fear with personal experience of human cruelty, so he initially treats the incident as a lesson his son must survive rather than a reason to sever their relationship. (Chapter 140)

When Fex returns with Peter disguised as a captured illegal, Lee enthusiastically accepts the story because it appears to restore the family's standing. He publicly praises Fex and calls the council himself, only to have the deception exposed. The embarrassment makes Lee submit the case to vampire law and permits Fex's detention, but it does not erase his attachment; before the execution he is visibly exhausted, and when Bryce moves to kill Fex and the rescuers, Lee chooses his children over the council's command. Lee attacks Bryce with the thirteenth family's strings and orders Silver to assist Fex's rescuers. Bryce defeats and severely injures him, showing the cost of that break with authority, but Lee survives. Reconciliation and the thirteenth family's secret

Fex later brings the method for creating Inner Blood Weapons to his former family. Lee could use the discovery solely to improve the thirteenth family's council position, but instead decides it should reach the King and that Fex—not Lee—should receive the credit. He and Silver hope the contribution might reverse Fex's expulsion, although they recognise that Fex may still choose Quinn's tenth family. Lee develops from a council leader into an active battlefield commander. His family strings restrain Dalki, manipulate combatants away from lethal blows, and save human lives. He proposes a concentrated assault when a fortress appears impenetrable, yet later refuses to chase retreating Dalki into a possible trap and prioritises recovering vampire bodies, showing that his aggression is moderated by responsibility for the force under him. In the final battle with Graham, Lee, Silver, and Fex combine their red strings to restrain the Dalki leader. When Layla's black sword appears to be the only weapon Graham avoids, Lee asks her permission to help, inserts his control needles, and uses his puppeteering to guide her body through smooth defensive and offensive sword motions. The technique disperses Graham's air slashes and creates an opening for the alliance, but it also reveals Lee as the controlling threat. Graham bypasses Layla and drives a hand through Lee's chest. Appearance and personality

Lee resembles an older, more mature Fex and has a small goatee. He is introduced seated in a throne-like chair with the formality expected of a vampire lord. He is proud, quick-tempered, and conscious of the thirteenth family's unreliable reputation, but the source repeatedly complicates that pride with genuine attachment: he sends Silver after Fex, boasts about his son's ability, breaks with Bryce to protect him, and declines to take credit for Fex's Blood Weapon discovery. His battlefield decisions show both boldness and caution, while his final attack demonstrates trust in Layla's judgement rather than treating puppeteering as permission to use her without consent. Powers and abilities

Vampire lord physiology

As a vampire family leader, Lee has strength, speed, blood aura, healing, and durability far beyond ordinary vampires. He can uproot and hurl a tree through his strings and survive Bryce's severe beating. Qi is an effective counter to him and to vampires generally: Leo's third-stage Qi strike bypasses Lee's visible defence and ends their training match. Graham's direct chest strike exceeds Lee's recovery and is fatal. (Chapters 467–471, 1435, and 1564)

Invisible and blood strings

The thirteenth family's inherited power creates strings controlled through precise finger movements. Lee lays nearly invisible lines across an area as traps, wraps limbs and weapons, pulls targets, and combines strings with vampire strength to move heavy objects. Red strings formed through blood power are visible but stronger; Lee uses them to throw trees, bind Dalki, and combine tension with Silver and Fex against Graham. Needles and puppeteering

The family's highest combat application is bodily puppeteering. Lee places needles linked to his strings into a target and directs physical movement from nearby, allowing more exact technique than simple binding. In a friendly contest he cannot demonstrate the method because it requires another body, but against Graham he uses it with Layla's agreement to compensate for her limited swordsmanship and the black sword's distracting influence. He controls the sword through circles, thrusts, and parries that neutralise air-cutting claws. (Chapters 1435 and 1563–1564)

The technique controls motion rather than establishing mental domination: Layla remains conscious, thinks independently, and can speak while Lee guides her body.
