Kyle

Kyle Dawn is the seventh vampire family leader who supports Bryce's claim to the throne and later serves as one of his Royal Knights. His fighting style centres on a cape connected to the seventh family's defensive ability, which can absorb attacks, harden into shields, and assume a spiked blood-weapon form. This article concerns Kyle Dawn; the human academy student named Kyle in Chapters 11–13 is a separate, short-lived character. (Chapters 465–481, 861–882, and 1123)

Biography

Seventh leader and the execution conflict

Kyle appears among the family leaders assembled for Fex's execution. When the confrontation becomes a battle, he intercepts Borden and demonstrates why he is treated as one of the settlement's fastest senior vampires: a crossed double blood swipe penetrates the Dalki's scales, and Kyle then moves to support Bryce against Arthur. His decision places the seventh family firmly with the council establishment rather than with Quinn's rescue party. (Chapters 465–480)

Kyle activates the blood-weapon state of his cape, turning its red-lit surface into connected spikes, but Arthur's shadow counters his approach. When Bryce's blood cannon is redirected, Kyle wraps the cape around his head and torso. The defence saves his life but cannot nullify the attack; an arm and a leg are torn away. His later return with restored limbs shows long-term vampire recovery, not that the cape made him invulnerable. (Chapters 480–481 and 861)

Supporting Bryce and becoming a Royal Knight

During the royal succession Kyle nominates and votes for Bryce. He later assists in Quinn's apprehension after Quinn is framed, using the cape to engulf a Qi-infused blood swipe and trading blows at close range. Quinn's fairy-blood weapon poisons him, and Kyle has to use blood control to draw the contaminant back out after learning what has happened. The encounter exposes a less visible limit: a defence that catches an attack does not necessarily neutralise unusual substances delivered through it. (Chapters 861, 873–880)

Bryce's victory makes Kyle one of the new Royal Knights alongside Prima. He investigates guard movements and enforces the king's orders during Cindy's uprising. Although he distrusts Paul, Kyle concludes that protecting him offers the best chance of preserving the settlement. He turns the cape into a solid shield, covers both of them against poison and mass blood projectiles, and continues the cooperation after repeated impacts numb his arms. His loyalty remains institutional, but it is pragmatic enough to work with an opponent when the alternative is collective defeat. (Chapters 882, 900, and 915–934)

Final service during the civil war

Kyle continues handling messages and security as the former seventh leader and remaining Royal Knight while Harlu Dawn holds the contemporary family leadership. During the Dalki incursion he uses the cape to stop an attacker and pierces its head, then confronts Tempus over an unauthorised return and carries bodies and vehicles to Bryce as ordered. He deliberately avoids intervening in Bryce and Arthur's duel because approaching fighters of that level would accomplish nothing except his death. (Chapters 1123, 1258–1262, and 1335–1350)

Kyle's last appearances place him with the family leaders and Royal Guards opposing Laxmus. When Laxmus uses Influence on the guards, Kyle attempts to preserve the command structure by ordering them not to obey, but his authority cannot overcome the ability. He is alive at the end of the scene in Chapter 1358; the supplied corpus does not resolve his later whereabouts. One passage in Chapter 1123 calls the Royal Knight “Kyle Harlu,” but the surrounding office and history point to Kyle Dawn, while Harlu Dawn remains a separate seventh-family leader; the text does not establish “Harlu” as Kyle's reliable alias. (Chapters 1351–1358; Chapter 1123)

Appearance and personality

Kyle wears black leather clothing, a cape, and sunglasses even in the vampire settlement's dark environment. He presents himself with the composure expected of a family leader and Royal Knight. His early choices favour Bryce and council authority, yet later battles show judgment beyond factional hostility: he protects Paul when cooperation is strategically necessary and refuses to throw his life away by entering Arthur and Bryce's duel. His final failed command against Laxmus also reflects his reliance on hierarchy as a means of maintaining order. (Chapters 465–481, 873–926, and 1349–1358)

Powers and abilities

Vampire leadership physiology and blood control

As a family leader and later Royal Knight, Kyle has senior-vampire strength, speed, senses, regeneration, blood aura, and blood control. He is called the fastest vampire knight during the execution battle, can produce a crossed double blood swipe strong enough to penetrate Borden's scales, and later kills a Dalki by driving a hardened attack through its head. His blood control can pull fairy-blood poison out of his body, but only after exposure; it does not make him immune to the poison's initial effects. (Chapters 469, 873–875, and 1341–1344)

His regeneration restores limbs lost in the execution conflict over the long interval before his return. Immediate damage still incapacitates him, and the corpus does not show rapid limb regrowth within a battle. Kyle is also far below Arthur and Bryce at their peaks, which is why he treats their duel as an exclusion zone rather than a contest his rank obliges him to join. (Chapters 480–481, 861, and 1349–1350)

Seventh-family cape and blood weapon

Kyle's cape is connected to the seventh family's defensive ability. It can move around him, engulf incoming blood-aura attacks, become a solid wall or enclosing cover, and extend protection to an ally. In its blood-weapon state it glows red and changes into linked spikes that can attack as well as defend. Representative uses include catching Quinn's Qi-enhanced swipe, covering Paul from poison, blocking mass blood bullets, and restraining or piercing a Dalki. (Chapters 480–481, 873–875, 915–926, and 1341–1344)

The cape reduces damage rather than erasing it. Bryce's redirected cannon tears off Kyle's exposed limbs despite the core protection, powerful repeated blows transmit enough force to numb his arms, and Arthur's shadow can intercept or redirect the weapon. Attacks carrying an unfamiliar contaminant can also poison Kyle through the exchange. His last demonstrated use remains combat-ready during the civil conflict; no later upgrade or transfer of the cape is established. (Chapters 480–481, 873–875, and 919–926)

Relationships

  • Bryce: Kyle repeatedly backs Bryce's authority, nominates and votes for him as king, and accepts appointment as his Royal Knight. He continues executing Bryce's orders through the later civil conflict. (Chapters 480–481, 861–882, and 1258–1358)
  • Quinn: Kyle first opposes Quinn's allies during Fex's rescue and later helps arrest Quinn after he is framed. Their fight tests the cape against Qi and fairy blood, but Kyle subsequently recognises Quinn's role in saving the settlement. (Chapters 465–481, 873–875, and 934)
  • Paul: Kyle distrusts Paul during Cindy's uprising, then protects him because Paul offers the best tactical route through the crisis. The cooperation shows that Kyle's factional loyalty does not prevent battlefield judgment. (Chapters 915–926)
  • Arthur: Arthur's shadow counters Kyle's blood weapon and redirects Bryce's cannon into him. Years later Kyle refuses to approach Arthur's duel with Bryce, accurately judging the gap between their power and his own. (Chapters 480–481 and 1349–1350)
  • Borden: Kyle intercepts Borden at Fex's execution and wounds him with a crossed blood swipe, providing one of the clearest demonstrations of Kyle's offensive power. (Chapter 469)
