Kubo
Kubo, known as Demon Man Kubo, is a former Alliance faction leader absorbed into Pure. His reputation for doing anything to win culminates in an attack on the Cursed ship, where his attempt to harm children brings him into conflict with Borden. (Chapters 748–787)
Biography
Defeat at the faction tournament
Kubo enters the tournament beside Tulk and Fareen, former faction leaders who had nearly built a great power before Pure forced them into its organisation. Spectators know him as a ruthless combatant, but Quinn closes the distance before Kubo can use his preferred range. A shadow path slows Kubo, and a kick to his unarmoured head knocks him unconscious before he demonstrates an attack. (Chapters 748–749)
Assaulting the Cursed ship
After Pure founder Lucy's death, Kubo, Tulk, and Fareen decide that damaging the Cursed faction will improve their position with Pure. Kubo uses his spear to force a faction member to open the ship, then leads one of three boarding groups. His confidence comes from Pure's earlier victory over their Alliance and his belief that Pure represents humanity's strongest side. (Chapters 783–784)
Searching for a fight, Kubo finds a training room full of children and ignores even his own followers' objections. He thrusts at a student, but Borden catches and breaks the spear, then slams him through his maximum hardening and legendary-tier armour. Kubo survives near death; after the remaining attackers are defeated, the Cursed faction imprisons him as the only captured leader still alive. His fate after Chapter 787 is not stated. (Chapters 786–787)
Appearance and personality
The corpus does not provide a stable description of Kubo's face, hair, or build. He wears beast gear and legendary-tier armour during the ship attack and habitually carries a spear. He is bloodthirsty, status-seeking, and eager to frighten weaker targets, while his cruelty toward children alienates even allied Pure members. (Chapters 748–749 and 783–787)
Powers and abilities
Hardening and spear use
Kubo can activate a hardening ability at maximum strength and is skilled enough with a spear to spin, throw, catch, and rapidly thrust it. He believes his ability works best at range, but the tournament prevents him from displaying that application, and the corpus does not name a distinct ranged technique. At close range, an unarmoured head remains vulnerable; later, even maximum hardening combined with legendary-tier armour cannot prevent Borden's slam from leaving him near death. (Chapters 749 and 787)
No later ability development, Qi, transformation, or release from custody is demonstrated. (Chapter 787)
Relationships
- Tulk and Fareen: Kubo follows Fareen with Tulk in building the Alliance, joins Pure after their defeat, and participates with both in the tournament and Cursed-ship attack. (Chapters 748–749 and 783–786)
- Quinn: Quinn removes Kubo from the faction tournament before Kubo can establish distance or attack. (Chapter 749)
- Borden: Borden intervenes when Kubo attacks a child, breaks his spear, and defeats him despite his strongest defence. (Chapters 786–787)
