Gorgath

Gorgath is a veteran Celestial selected to hunt God Slayers. Already fighting one target when Mundus names the task force, he later attacks Erin, Zero, and their companions, relying on extraordinary durability and embedded orbs that continuously generate energy until Zero exposes and destroys them. (Chapters 1888–1952)

Biography

Selection as a God-Slayer hunter

Mundus names Gorgath among six Celestials who have defeated many God Slayers and are expected to do so again. Gorgath misses the assembly because he is already fighting another such opponent in his own solar system, making him the most immediately active member of the selected group. When a later task identifies Erin and Zero nearby, he accepts it without hesitation and declares that he will eliminate both. (Chapters 1888 and 1892)

Gorgath's pursuit is framed as duty and personal confidence rather than a private grievance. He crosses the planet at extreme speed, attacks Agent Four's blood barrier, and continues toward the group even after meeting resistance. The corpus does not identify Gorgath's home world, dedicated followers, or the earlier God Slayer he had been fighting. (Chapter 1892)

Battle against Erin's alliance

By the main confrontation, Gorgath has emerged uninjured from earlier exchanges and openly dismisses Immortui's follower as weak. He uses the rotating orbs embedded throughout his body to amplify repeated punches, break defensive ice, and pressure Erin, Flora, and Agent Four together. Rather than simply attack the nominal God Slayer, he identifies Agent Four's barrier as the most troublesome support and repeatedly tries to remove him first. (Chapters 1945–1948)

Zero's high-output Soul Strikes are the first attacks to draw Gorgath's blood, yet Gorgath continues fighting and adapts his priorities. He breaks Erin's Blood Sword, overwhelms her and Flora physically, and drives through ice with celestial energy. His resistance is not absolute: flame affects him more than ice, and strikes carrying celestial energy can penetrate or damage him. (Chapters 1946 and 1948–1950)

Disabled power and death

Zero discovers that Gorgath's rotating orbs are the source of his apparently endless energy and uses tracking Qi strikes infused with celestial power to target them. The attacks change course and shape around Gorgath's defence, destroying the orbs one after another. Gorgath is frightened and weakened, but insists that his remaining stored celestial energy is still sufficient to win. (Chapter 1950)

Before he can recover, Peter drives a hand through his chest and kicks him down. Gorgath's body dissolves into particles, and later accounts describe Peter as the dedicated follower chiefly responsible for the Celestial's loss. No later chapter shows Gorgath restored or active, so his latest confirmed state is death during the battle. (Chapters 1950–1952)

Appearance and personality

Gorgath is a large red-skinned being with a horn roughly the length of an arm. Glass-like balls are embedded in his feet, legs, arms, shoulders, and torso; they spin and spark when he generates power, while his skin glows brighter red during greater exertion. No clothing, age, species before Celestial status, or ordinary form is established. (Chapters 1892 and 1945–1950)

He is proud, combative, and eager to prove that no defence can stop him. Gorgath taunts weaker opponents and enjoys breaking barriers, but he also makes tactical judgments about dangerous support abilities and changes targets when the group frustrates him. His confidence gives way to fear only when Zero starts destroying the orbs on which much of his endurance depends. (Chapters 1945–1950)

Powers and abilities

Orb-generated energy

The embedded orbs spin to produce energy, channel it through Gorgath's limbs, and let him repeat planet-shaking blows without visible fatigue. Different clusters can power movement, punches, and defensive discharges; their output increases when they spin faster. Zero explicitly identifies them as the mechanism behind Gorgath's seemingly endless supply, although the corpus never explains their origin or whether they are biological, technological, or bestowed Celestial structures. (Chapters 1945–1950)

The system has a decisive structural weakness. Celestial-infused tracking strikes can break individual orbs, causing local explosions and removing part of Gorgath's output. Destroying the network leaves him badly hurt and unable to sustain his earlier performance, though he retains a separate reserve of celestial energy. (Chapter 1950)

Celestial energy and physical combat

Gorgath flies or accelerates through the air at lightning-like speed, crosses short distances before opponents can raise defences, and channels enormous force through punches and his horn. Celestial energy lets him break Erin's ice wall more effectively than physical force alone, disperse attacks near his skin, and damage opponents through layered armour and Qi. His durability withstands reflected blows, sword strikes, explosions, freezing, and repeated group attacks. (Chapters 1892 and 1945–1950)

His counters are nevertheless demonstrated: high-level Soul Strikes draw blood, flame resists his defensive output better than ice, celestial-infused Qi can penetrate him, and destruction of the orbs exposes his finite reserve. A chest wound from Peter finishes him after Zero's targeted barrage; no progression beyond this final battle is shown. (Chapters 1946 and 1949–1950)

Relationships

  • Mundus: Mundus selects Gorgath for the God-Slayer hunt and monitors his battle as part of the Celestials' wider response. (Chapters 1888 and 1945)
  • Erin: Erin is one of Gorgath's assigned targets. He overwhelms her defences but cannot finish her before her allies disable him. (Chapters 1892 and 1945–1951)
  • Zero: Zero wounds Gorgath, discovers the orbs' weakness, and destroys them with tracking celestial-infused strikes. (Chapters 1946–1950)
  • Peter: Peter exploits Gorgath's weakened state and delivers the killing blow. (Chapters 1950–1952)
  • Flora and Agent Four: Their support repeatedly obstructs Gorgath, prompting him to prioritise Agent Four's barrier and later attack Flora. (Chapters 1945–1952)

Items

No manifest-configured inventory item is assigned to Gorgath. His embedded orbs are part of his demonstrated power mechanism, not a separately catalogued possession.
