Doguth
Doguth is a five-spike Dalki captain serving aboard the Marpo Cruise. He joins Nog, Sil, and Wince on an expedition to investigate the attack on the ship, where his fighting power is tested by prolonged underwater combat. (Chapters 1822–1867)
Biography
Joining the underwater investigation
After assessing the damaged cruise ship, Doguth calls a meeting to determine why the attackers targeted Wince. He and Nog volunteer to accompany the expedition because they want revenge strong enough to deter another attack. Doguth is blunt about the limits of Dalki underwater—reduced strength despite a roughly six-hour breath reserve—but proceeds when the group enters the Hydro stations. (Chapters 1822–1827)
Separated with Sil, Doguth uses his tail to swim and proposes following the only survivor rather than waiting in the ruins. He later fights a demon-tier sea creature alone, sustaining broken ribs and repeated crushing attacks until the Dalki response to injury amplifies his body and eye lasers enough to tear free, evaporate the tentacles, and punch through the creature's head. He claims its crystal, but the damage and underwater environment leave him visibly bloodied. (Chapters 1828–1830)
Against the Predators, Doguth again grows stronger as he is hurt, yet oxygen loss makes him increasingly vulnerable. He chooses Mokoon as the apparent weakest target to reduce the number of opponents, while Sil's interventions keep the battle from becoming a clear solo victory. Afterward, Doguth argues that Sil could have defeated the Predators and kept the former king's trident but chose restraint; that judgment supports leaving peacefully with Nog rather than continuing the conflict. (Chapters 1835 and 1867)
Appearance and personality
Doguth is a large, five-spike Dalki with a strong tail and red eyes capable of firing energy. The corpus does not give stable clothing or facial details. He is direct, proud of earned spoils, and motivated by retaliation, but he can reassess an opponent's intentions and argue for restraint when their actions demonstrate good faith. (Chapters 1822–1830 and 1867)
Powers and abilities
Five-spike Dalki physiology
Doguth has the strength, durability, and injury response of a five-spike Dalki: as damage accumulates, his physical power and speed rise. Underwater he can hold his breath for about six hours and propel himself with his tail, but he is weaker than on land. Broken ribs, constriction, and oxygen loss still impair him; growing power does not remove the risk of suffocation or accumulated damage. (Chapters 1826, 1828, 1830, and 1835)
Eye lasers
Doguth fires red laser energy from his eyes. Early in the demon-tier fight he can use only short bursts, burning or cutting tentacles before returning to punches and grappling. As his injuries increase, the ability also strengthens: a later, wider blast completely evaporates a wall of tentacles. He can focus the beams on a moving target, but underwater pressure from multiple opponents and dwindling oxygen restrict sustained use. No later evolution beyond this demonstrated injury-linked amplification is shown. (Chapters 1830 and 1835)
Relationships
- Sil: Doguth initially treats Sil as a powerful but suspicious companion. Fighting beside him and seeing him return the trident convinces Doguth that Sil had chosen restraint. (Chapters 1826–1867)
- Nog: Nog is Doguth's crewmate and partner in the investigation; they choose to accompany the mission and later leave together. (Chapters 1822–1823 and 1867)
- Wince: Doguth investigates why the attackers singled Wince out and joins her expedition partly to avenge the cruise ship. (Chapters 1822–1823)
