Yuwen Xing

Yuwen Xing is the politically appointed guardian of Liuli Island whose dependence on patrons and access to local news make him a useful but anxious contact for Li Fan.

Biography

The Opportunity of the Ten Thousand Immortals Pavilion

Yuwen Xing takes over Liuli Island after political maneuvering and grants Li Fan's request to retain Steward Zhao in a mortal administrative post. The death of his Nascent Soul patron True Lord Gouxuan soon makes him fear for the guardianship he won through that connection. He nevertheless continues reporting island developments, praises Zhang Haobo's talent, and later offers Li Fan temporary guardianship work through another contact. Conversations with him also help Li Fan recognize how heaven erases cultivators' memories of catastrophes: Yuwen vaguely recalls important events, then dismisses what he can no longer hold clearly. (Chapters 96–104; Chapters 133–143)

Appearance and personality

The corpus does not give Yuwen Xing stable physical features. He is politically conscious, eager to publicize exceptional local talent, friendly when useful connections are available, and visibly anxious when patronage disappears. His forgotten catastrophe is not simple carelessness; it reflects the wider influence that dulls cultivators' hostility toward heaven and erases dangerous memory. (Chapters 96–104; Chapters 133–143)

Abilities and cultivation

Island guardianship

Yuwen controls access to Liuli Island's protective and teleportation formations, can appoint or retain mortal staff, and circulates local opportunities. His exact realm is not explicitly established in the relevant scenes. The position depends on Alliance politics and external backing, which sharply limits his independence after True Lord Gouxuan falls. (Chapters 96–104)

Relationships

  • Li Fan uses Yuwen as an administrative contact, news source, and indirect employment broker.
  • Zhang Haobo impresses Yuwen, who eagerly distributes a recording of his puppet training.
  • True Lord Gouxuan is Yuwen's deceased patron and the foundation of his initial appointment.

Items

  • Liuli Island's formation controls and communication channels are institutional tools attached to Yuwen's office.
  • The recording of Zhang Haobo's training is information Yuwen distributes, not a notable personal artifact.
