Biography

Where Do Immortals Come From?

Kou Hong steals a rare Golden Core technique after nearly a century at Foundation Establishment, prompting his century-long companion Dao Xuanzi to pursue him into Xuanjing. Li Fan repeatedly manipulates their conflict with mortal weapons and Immortal-Mortal Miasma: one life ends with Kou Hong dying and yielding the technique to his friend, while another leaves him captured, tortured, and pragmatic enough to advise Li Fan. In a more cooperative branch, Kou Hong repairs the Tai Yan Boat, helps establish an escape route, and later meets Li Fan as a cultivated acquaintance without recognizing the history between them. Appearance and personality

Kou Hong initially appears as an adult man whose body rapidly ages under concentrated Immortal-Mortal Miasma. He is hot-tempered, proud, suspicious, and eager for praise, yet also pragmatic under captivity and genuinely attached to Dao Xuanzi. His final transfer of the technique in one branch confirms that their brotherhood survives beneath their struggle for longevity. (Chapters 1, 4–10, 148)

Gnarled Dragon Branch and fire Dao arts

Kou Hong establishes his Foundation with the Gnarled Dragon Branch and uses crimson flame formations, binding cages, and the Heaven-Devouring Dragon attack. His cultivation is inferior to Dao Xuanzi's in direct comparison, and Immortal-Mortal Miasma can rapidly age, weaken, and kill him. He is also competent enough in artifact refinement and formations to repair the Tai Yan Boat over roughly a year. (Chapters 4, 7, 17)

Relationships

Dao Xuanzi is Kou Hong's rival, pursuer, and hundred-year brother; their conflict over the Golden Core method can end in reconciliation, betrayal, or mutual ruin depending on Li Fan's intervention. Li Fan is alternately ambusher, captor, client, and apparent friend. (Chapters 1–20, 148)
