Huan Yu Courtyard instructor

Ji Hongdao trains more than a thousand provincial formation talents to build the Tianxuan Spirit-Locking network. He administers layered tests, demonstrates the detection of Five Elders infiltrators, distributes Soul Gathering Pearls holding cleansed captive souls, and forces weak students through dangerous information overload. Li Fan initially performs poorly at Soul Contract perception but excels in theory and endurance. Ji can regret lost talent, yet never questions the institution that turns enemy souls and lethal training into materials for rapid deployment. (Chapters 292–304; Chapters 313–325)

Roaring Abyss mobilization

An appointment redirects Ji’s team aboard the Dust-Crossing Boat to the Roaring Abyss and Eternal Immortal Stronghold. He offers merit and techniques, coordinates arrays around maze realms, and argues to Shang Shaojun that sacrificing half a realm is justified if the Alliance survives. Shaojun rejects his hierarchy of cultivators above other life, but Ji warns him not to oppose the Dharma-Transmitters. The exchange reveals that Ji’s ruthlessness is a reasoned institutional belief, not mere obedience. (Chapters 348–354)

Tianling Province mutual-destruction threat

When One-Heart Heavenly Sovereign refuses to leave Tianling Province, Ji cannot defeat her directly. He activates the completed Spirit-Locking Formation, bows three times, and kills almost every Alliance cultivator below Dao Integration across the province instead. The mass death threatens the minimum cultivator population Longevity beings require and forces One-Heart’s retreat. Ji refuses her invitation to defect, suppresses a moment of hesitation, and proves that the regional network is a strategic weapon whose leverage comes from annihilating his own side. Late-era expert, ally, and explorer

In another late simulation, Shang Shaojun recommends Ji as a trustworthy formation and artifact-refining genius. Ji accompanies Sun Luyuan, breaks an ancient ruin’s entrance formation within a cup of tea, recommends reporting the Great Mage of Tiandu’s remains, then compromises and seals the site. He later loans a formation-breaking disc. The Boundless Mirror still manipulates events beneath his notice, and Li Fan eventually surpasses his formation understanding, preserving clear limits beneath Ji’s formidable institutional reputation. Appearance and personality

Ji Hongdao is a cleanly presented white-robed cultivator whose posture and formal bows reflect controlled institutional authority. During the Tianling confrontation, his face becomes expressionless and ice-cold even while sweat reveals the pressure of facing a Longevity Heavenly Sovereign. He is strict, efficient, technically proud, politically persuasive, and ruthless toward designated enemies or expendable subordinates. Outside crisis, he can honor favors, joke with associates, and show professional regret without reconsidering the hierarchy that supports his decisions. Abilities and cultivation

Tianxuan Spirit-Locking Formation command

Ji’s Formation Hall expertise and access to Tianxuan infrastructure let him detect souls bound by Five Elders contracts, track targets through green beams, and command regional threads that instantly kill cultivators below Dao Integration. The ability depends on constructed regional arrays and Tianxuan cores; it is not a free personal attack. Dao Integration cultivators exceed ordinary locking capability, so Ji deters One-Heart indirectly by killing the province’s lesser cultivators rather than striking her. Its latest decisive demonstration remains the Tianling mutual-destruction threat. (Chapters 292–294; Chapters 348–354; Chapters 407–408)

Formation and artifact-refining attainment

As a rare Alliance formation genius and subordinate of Chief Lu Xichan, Ji quickly recognizes ancient structures, breaks a ruin entrance in roughly the time needed for tea, establishes layered seals, and designs or evaluates formation tools. His competence is broad but not omniscient. The Boundless Mirror can operate beneath his perception, and Li Fan’s later mastery reaches structures Ji cannot understand. In the late exploration timeline, he remains an active official expert whose value includes caution and reliable field judgment rather than absolute superiority. (Chapter 1173; Chapters 1209–1212)

Soul-based accelerated training

At Huan Yu Courtyard, Ji uses Soul Gathering Pearls containing cleansed enemy souls to teach perception of Five Elders contracts. He also floods weaker students with formation information, forcing their minds to adapt under extreme pressure. The approach creates a smaller cohort capable of rapid construction, but failure can cause idiocy or death. It is an institutional training technique rather than Ji’s principal combat art, and its completed purpose lies in producing builders for the Spirit-Locking network at severe human cost.
