Biography

A father choosing his son

Wu Jinpeng takes precarious performance work while caring for Wu Sheng, stretching worn clothes and limited money without treating the child as a burden. When Chen Ge follows Wu Sheng's nightmare into the cursed house, Jinpeng faces the lip-sewn ghost and an environment designed around his fear of failing as a father. He continues calling to his son and chooses the child's life over appearances or personal safety. Chen recognizes both his acting experience and his character, offering him work as the House of Horrors' fifth living employee. Accepting the position gives Jinpeng stable income and a community without requiring him to surrender responsibility for Wu Sheng. (Chapters 1009–1025)
