Wang Xiaoming is the nervous eastern-campus student who mistakes Chen Ge for Lin Sisi. He becomes Chen's first guide through the School of the Afterlife, although his friendliness conceals predatory intentions of its own.

Biography

Deskmate in the eastern campus

Wang Xiaoming wakes Chen Ge, calls him Xiao Lin, and explains rules about the dormitories, teachers, patrols, and nighttime movement. Fear of school authorities makes him a useful guide, but his evasions reveal that he is protecting more than an ordinary disciplinary secret. He follows Chen into the staff residences and maintenance room, where red mirrors briefly awaken visible resentment in him. Wang then insists on taking Chen to the canteen for “delicious food,” implying that his companion would become the meal. His dispute with Bai Ling gives Chen an opening to escape, leaving Wang's fate after their confrontation unstated. (Chapters 763–777)

Appearance and personality

Wang Xiaoming looks like a normal, shy young man with darting eyes and a thin, nervous voice. He is frightened of teachers, quick to hide, and often unable to control his panic. His apparent friendliness is conditional: once hunger and the mirrors affect him, possessiveness and resentment surface beneath the timid schoolboy role. (Chapters 763–774)

Skills and supernatural abilities

Wang Xiaoming knows the eastern campus's rules, buildings, staff habits, and hidden routes. His body does not bleed normally when injured, and the covered red mirrors draw out green veins, hatred, and resentment, confirming that he is not an ordinary living student.
