Lychee

Lychee is the late-night host of Ghost Talk and an operative of the Ghost Stories Society whose broadcasts help prepare attacks on taxi drivers.

Biography

Narrative role

Chen Ge first recognizes Lychee by her distinctive radio voice during a Ghost Stories Society meeting. On Ghost Talk, she narrates taxi-driver attacks in suspiciously exact detail, turning supposed horror stories into both cover and preparation for real crimes. Tracing that connection leads Chen to the station, where Lychee receives a warning but cannot escape before he confronts and incapacitates her. (Chapters 239, 249–250, 255–256)

When police arrive, Chen directs them to search Lychee's home and identifies her as responsible for her former husband's death. Her capture breaks the anonymity that her on-air persona and society membership had provided. The story does not establish a numbered society identity consistently enough to make it a reliable alias, but it does make her operational loyalty and role in the attacks clear. (Chapter 256)

Appearance and personality

Lychee has a recognizable, practiced broadcasting voice and performs fear with theatrical excitement. Away from the microphone, she is secretive and quick to react when her cover is threatened, but her confidence collapses once Chen reaches the station before she can flee. Lychee is an effective radio storyteller who can turn detailed information into persuasive horror programming, and she coordinates covertly with other society members. No innate supernatural ability is demonstrated. (Chapters 239, 249–250, 256)

Relationships

Chen Ge identifies Lychee's voice, follows the link between her program and the attacks, and hands her over to the police. She also works with the Ghost Talk producer and the Ghost Stories Society, using the broadcast as part of their wider criminal activity. (Chapters 239, 255–256)

Items

Lychee uses the radio station's broadcast equipment and a phone for warnings and coordination. Her lipstick is also present when Chen confronts her, but none of these objects has a supernatural property. (Chapter 256)
