Lao Song is one of the seven university students who enter Murder by Midnight to restore their school's pride after He San's earlier defeat.

Murder by Midnight

Lao Song joins Brother Feng, Lao Zhao, He San, and the other students in a timed attempt to clear the Haunted House. The group initially treats the visit as a chance to mock the attraction on video, but the appearance of an unexplained eighth person breaks their formation. Lao Song becomes separated amid the dolls, darkness, and pursuit, contributing to the panic that leaves the challengers unable to complete their plan. (Chapters 28–33)

Appearance and personality

The narrative gives Lao Song little independent physical description. He shares the group's early confidence and competitive purpose, then becomes one of the students whose disappearance from the formation makes the remaining challengers doubt who is still with them. (Chapters 28–33)
