Moon Specter
History
A ghost guides Sungjin to a concealed katana in Greysoul Cemetery and enters the blade when he draws it, completing the hidden-piece discovery. The spirit later explains that Oryx tried to make her a banshee after her murder and sealed her into one of her father's swords when she resisted. Kargos eventually enhances the weapon, restoring her voice and transforming an initially obscure possession into an acknowledged partnership between the spirit and her wielder. (Chapters 19, 93–94, and 111)
Abilities and properties
In its original Legendary form, Moon Specter restores mana with each hit and projects a fear-inducing Deathly Wail over nearby creatures, including undead. Its enhancement makes it Sungjin's strongest general-purpose blade at the time, strengthens the wail into a more primal terror, and adds the spirit's warnings about threats outside his awareness. Her voice can also reach Sungjin through Beatrice's dream, demonstrating that the blade's value includes the spirit's perception and decisions rather than only fixed item effects. (Chapters 19, 22, 94, 154, and 180)
Ownership and custody
Sungjin recovers and wields the sword, but the person within it is not his property. The Moon Specter Spirit speaks for herself, chooses to remain until she is ready to move on, warns him in battle, and expresses gratitude to Kargos for restoring her voice. Sungjin controls when the katana is equipped or stored, while their later exchanges show an ongoing relationship with a conscious companion housed in the weapon. (Chapters 19, 94, 111, 140, and 180)
