Magic Carpet
History
The Magic Carpet is awarded to Sungjin after the Kutan Desert raid. He immediately tests it above the oasis, then repeatedly uses it to pursue airborne or distant enemies, inspect inaccessible routes, search cliff faces, and bypass vertical sections of later raids. (Chapters 42, 46, 52, 58, 80–81, and 101)
Abilities and properties
Al Zard's Flight skill provides up to twenty minutes of flight with a one-hour cooldown and no mana cost. The carpet responds to the rider's intended direction, is large enough for two adults, and can maneuver sharply, but its speed is only comparable to a harpy's and its limited active duration makes long searches time-sensitive. (Chapters 42 and 58)
Ownership and custody
Sungjin receives and retains the carpet as a raid reward, storing it in his Operator Cube between deployments. It remains useful even after he gains flying companions and other mounts, serving as his fallback when Shadowrun is unavailable and as a stable aerial platform during searches and combat. (Chapters 42–58, 145, and 155)
