Ariane

History

Kargos forges the katana for Sungjin around the intact Dragon's Heart. Its inspection window initially calls it “Nameless Sword — Nameless Sword,” after which Sungjin names it Ariane and gives it the nickname Dragon Lady in memory of Ariane the Dragon. The sword and the dragon are distinct entities despite sharing a name. (Chapter 120)

Abilities and properties

The Legendary katana is light and carries Strength S, Dexterity A, and Magic Power B. Mana Flow I supplies half the mana Sungjin spends during the next ten seconds, limited by what the embedded heart holds, while Mana Respiration I restores one percent of both the heart's and the wielder's mana each second. These effects make Ariane a source of mana support for demanding spell use, including magic accessed through the Ring of the Great Sage. (Chapters 120 and 144)

Ownership and custody

Kargos creates the weapon for Sungjin from material already in Sungjin's possession, and Sungjin immediately claims the right to name it. It thereafter remains among his swords; the corpus gives no transfer of ownership or independent agency to the katana itself. (Chapters 120 and 144)
