Xian Wang

Xian Wang is a Chinese spearman assigned to the Giant's Canyon party. He tries to organize an aloof collection of Hunters and openly admires Olympic archer Serin Han. His eagerness is sometimes awkward, but his cooperation is genuine: he protects Serin from a thrown rock and later dies trying to warn her about the party's trolls. (Chapters 23–27)

Appearance

Xian is a thirty-year-old Asian man who carries a spear and bears the Mid-level Spearman title. The corpus gives little additional physical detail, focusing more on his recognizable weapon, Chinese nationality, and visible enthusiasm upon identifying Serin. (Chapters 23–24)

Personality

Xian is sociable, earnest, and persistent in a party that initially refuses to communicate. He claps to gather attention, proposes introductions, explains his preferred range, and tries to form a balanced plan. His admiration for Serin is obvious and not reciprocated warmly, yet he continues helping the entire group rather than demanding special treatment from her. (Chapters 23–25)

Biography

Giant's Canyon

Xian recognizes Serin from her Olympic victory and Chinese cosmetics advertising, introduces himself as a fan, and then attempts to organize the newly formed party. In combat he occupies the middle of the formation, stabs ogres from beyond immediate melee range, and follows Serin's ranged openings. He is not the party's strongest member, but he contributes to a conventional structure and repeatedly encourages the strangers to clear together. (Chapters 23–25)

When a giant throws a rock toward Serin, Xian interposes his spear and deflects it, suffering wounds from the shattered stone. His protective action is genuine despite Serin's earlier reserve. Later, Santiago and Raj reveal their plan to turn on the party. Xian is murdered during their attack, but uses his remaining chance to warn Serin to run, carrying his cooperative instinct through the moment it costs him his life. (Chapters 25–27)

Relationships

  • Serin Han: Xian is an enthusiastic fan whose first handshake is ignored because Serin distrusts strangers. He nevertheless protects her from a giant's projectile and warns her when the trolls attack, proving that his admiration includes real concern rather than only celebrity excitement. (Chapters 23–27)
  • Santiago and Raj: Xian fights beside both men during the ordinary raid, relying on the same temporary cooperation as the rest of the party. They later murder him as the first step in their attack on Serin. (Chapters 24–27)

Skills and abilities

Spear combat. Xian uses his weapon from the party's middle line, attacking through openings created by the tank and ranged fighters. He can redirect a thrown rock with the spear, although the impact breaks the projectile into fragments that wound him. Strong monsters can also seize the weapon and lift him, leaving him dependent on teammates to create an escape. (Chapters 24–26)

Party coordination. Xian has no formal leadership title, but he initiates introductions and tries to assign a formation based on each Hunter's weapon and role. His efforts help the silent group begin functioning, though they cannot reveal or prevent the concealed betrayal inside it. (Chapters 23–24)

Equipment

  • Spear: Xian's primary weapon supports mid-range thrusts and can be used defensively against projectiles. Its name and grade are not supplied. (Chapters 23–27)
