Soldamyr

Soldamyr is a genie magician whose pursuit of immortality preserved a vast body of magical knowledge at the cost of much of his original power. Although the raid system manifests him through a summon-classified lamp, he retains memory, preferences, judgment, curiosity, and concern for his companions. Sungjin therefore comes to rely on him as a teacher and trusted elder, not as an inert possession. (Chapters 39–55, 68–82, 104–161)

Appearance

When released as Kutan's hidden boss, Soldamyr first appears as an enormous cloud giant at least five stories tall, towering over the oasis while casting lightning and fire. After his defeat, his recurring form is a blue genie roughly twice the height of an adult man. He can hover, alter visibility with magic, and return to the lamp as smoke when dismissed or exhausted. (Chapters 39–43, 60, 69, 81)

Personality

Soldamyr is proud of his former status and eager to have his scholarship recognized. Soon after acknowledging Sungjin, he compares himself with legendary magicians and explains how close he believes he came to the tenth circle. His boasting can test Sungjin's patience, but it reflects genuine centuries of study, and Soldamyr becomes visibly pleased whenever his new companion seriously consults him about magic. (Chapters 42–43, 54–55, 68, 78–79)

He is also measured, loyal, and intellectually curious. Soldamyr searches for solutions before recommending force, admits the limits of his schools and mana, and approaches unfamiliar artifacts or high magic with reverence rather than bravado. In danger he tries to protect Sungjin even when his own magic is suppressed, while outside combat he pursues questions about Aio and Time Reversal with the excitement of a lifelong researcher. (Chapters 60, 68–72, 104–106, 114, 118–120, 138–139, 156–160)

Biography

The sealed great magician

Soldamyr once held the reputation of Kutan's strongest magician. Seeking eternal life and unlimited time for study, he voluntarily sealed himself into a lamp; the bargain preserved his consciousness but sharply reduced the mana and magical power available when he manifested. He still considers his accumulated knowledge exceptional, claiming that before the sealing he approached the legendary standard of the tenth circle and that the intervening eternity expanded his scholarship even as it diminished his combat capacity. (Chapters 39, 42)

When Sungjin rubs the worn lamp at Suleman's oasis, Soldamyr emerges and declares that he will test whether the finder deserves recognition as his master. He attacks with Chain Lightning, Fireball, Lightning Bolt, and Polymorph, forcing Sungjin into one of his most damaging battles to that point. Zhang Fei's silencing shout exposes Soldamyr's poor physical defense without spellcasting, and the genie accepts defeat rather than denying the result. (Chapters 39–40)

The restored lamp lets Soldamyr manifest again after the raid, but he returns as a speaking individual rather than a silent reward. He apologizes for the test, explains his three accessible schools and personal mana limit, and offers his expertise whenever Sungjin has magical questions. Spiritual Link also lets him reside at Ninety Nine Nights alongside Cain, where Sungjin speaks to him with the deference given to an elder and credits him directly after shared work. (Chapters 42–44, 54)

Teacher and battle summon

Soldamyr's first campaigns establish the breadth and limits of his practical magic. He burns through Dimitri's spider-filled rooms, protects a vulnerable Treasure Hunter from harpies, and uses Reverse Gravity to pull the Harpy Queen into reach, but high-cost spells leave him exhausted and he withdraws when his mana is depleted. These scenes make his participation collaborative: Sungjin sets objectives, while Soldamyr selects and executes the magic that makes them possible. (Chapters 47–60)

His advice then changes Sungjin's overall strategy. Asked how to clear faster without taking ordinary hunters' contribution, Soldamyr proposes Shadow Walk, explains its five-second shadow requirement, and develops an assassination route that conceals Sungjin and Cain. He later guides Sungjin through all five spell schools, recommends magic suited to a sword user, explains price and mana barriers, and supplies the theory that turns a talented swordsman into a deliberate spellblade. (Chapters 55, 66, 68–72, 77–79)

In the Magician's Ivory Tower, Soldamyr counters Lenin, diagnoses forbidden fusion markings, and helps corner a magician whose Blink and invisibility complicate ordinary sword combat. Against Ariane the Dragon, he analyzes the rules of her challenge and attempts to shield Sungjin even after her Dragon's Voice suppresses his magic. His role is not simply to cast on command; he identifies magical systems and remains engaged when direct power fails. (Chapters 80–82, 104–106)

The Ring of the Great Sage gives Soldamyr a research problem worthy of his ambitions. Sungjin entrusts the ring to him for study, and Soldamyr calculates the enormous mana requirement for Time Reversal, identifies a Dragon's Heart as a possible solution, and analyzes what happens after the spell is tested. Because the reversal erases everyone else's experience of those seconds, he must reason from Sungjin's report, yet he still determines that the caster should be able to choose when the reversed interval stops. (Chapters 106, 114, 118–120, 138–139)

Soldamyr remains both scholar and combatant in later raids. He thaws the Red Lion's soldiers, fights their fused abomination, recognizes Archae'ard as a polymorphed blue dragon, and warns Sungjin about the dragon's magical superiority. After Archae'ard banishes him temporarily into the spirit world, Soldamyr's first response on returning is to check whether Sungjin is hurt. He later supplies flight and joins Cain in hunting fleeing demons, closing his latest appearance as an active comrade whose concern and judgment extend beyond a summon timer. (Chapters 124–125, 156–161)

Relationships

  • Sungjin: Soldamyr formally calls Sungjin his master after losing the hidden-boss test, but their relationship develops through instruction, consultation, and mutual concern. Sungjin gives tactical directions while deferring to Soldamyr's magical expertise, entrusts rare artifacts to his study, and speaks to him as a respected elder; Soldamyr, in turn, advises him candidly and tries to protect him in battles that exceed either one's experience. (Chapters 42–60, 68–82, 104–120, 138–160)

  • Cain: Cain and Soldamyr share Ninety Nine Nights as recurring companions and repeatedly deploy together. Cain can wake Soldamyr from hostile confusion, while Soldamyr conceals him with Shadow Walk and supports his pursuit through battlefield magic. Their coordination becomes part of the stable formation surrounding Sungjin rather than evidence that either is a disposable tool. (Chapters 43, 60, 68–72, 81–82, 93, 124–125, 156–161)

  • Besgoro: Soldamyr's patient magical explanations contrast with Besgoro's aggressive battlefield instincts. Both advise Sungjin and can add spellcasting to his swordplay, but Soldamyr more often supplies theory, identification, and conservative limits while Besgoro presses immediate tactical openings. Their different forms of expertise let Sungjin combine scholarship with veteran combat judgment. (Chapters 55–82, 104–120, 156–160)

  • Rajenta: Soldamyr identifies Rajenta as a magic-resistant Royal Griffin soon after the hatchling emerges and later fights beside the growing creature. Along with Cain, he shows interest when Sungjin obtains Merka, but the three remain distinct sentient companions with different abilities and development rather than interchangeable summons. (Chapters 80, 92–93, 124–125, 156)

  • Archae'ard: Soldamyr recognizes Archae'ard's polymorphed blue-dragon nature from his eyes and immediately understands the scale of the magical threat. Archae'ard removes him from the battlefield by sending him temporarily into the spirit world; after returning, Soldamyr is relieved that Sungjin survived and treats his own banishment as secondary. (Chapters 156–160)

Skills and abilities

Multi-school magic. Soldamyr can use blue, red, and black magic through the seventh circle within the limits of his manifested mana. His demonstrated repertoire includes Chain Lightning, Lightning Bolt, Electric Shock, Fireball, Inferno, Polymorph, Weakness, Blizzard Storm, Reverse Gravity, Shadow Walk, protective barriers, levitation, and flight. He cannot use white or green magic in the supplied corpus. (Chapters 39–42, 47–60, 68–82, 104–106, 124–125, 160–161)

Shadow Walk. This black magic hides a creature while it remains connected to shadows. The effect can continue indefinitely if the target reaches another shadow within five seconds, but it breaks after five seconds in the open. Soldamyr can conceal multiple allies, although maintaining the spell consumes enough of his limited manifestation-time mana to reduce his availability for later combat. (Chapters 68–72)

Magical scholarship. Soldamyr can identify formations, magical symbols, spell schools, likely counters, artifact properties, and the relationship among spell class, Magic Power, Mind Power, and mana cost. His calculations guide purchases and long-term stat allocation, while his knowledge of legendary magicians lets him interpret Aio and derive practical rules for Time Reversal that Sungjin could not learn from raid memory alone. (Chapters 42–44, 55, 68–82, 106, 114, 118–120, 138–139, 156)

Battlefield control and support. Rather than competing with Sungjin's sword damage, Soldamyr often changes position, visibility, or movement: he shields against area fire, reveals or counters enemy magic, lifts combatants into the air, scatters formations, restrains fleeing targets, and protects designated allies. His choices are constrained by mana, daily availability, and effects powerful enough to silence, banish, or dismiss him. (Chapters 47–60, 68–82, 104–106, 124–125, 156–161)

Limitations. Sealing reduced Soldamyr from his claimed near-tenth-circle potential to a seventh-circle manifestation with finite mana and a limited duration outside Ninety Nine Nights. He is physically vulnerable when prevented from casting, cannot cover every magical school, and can be overwhelmed by dragon-level authority. He openly accounts for these limits when advising Sungjin instead of disguising them as certainty. (Chapters 40–43, 60, 68–72, 104–106, 118–120, 156–160)

Equipment

  • Soldamyr's Lamp: Soldamyr sealed himself into the lamp in exchange for eternal life. After his hidden-boss defeat, its Spiritual Link permits him to manifest for a limited time in raids and to remain present at Ninety Nine Nights. The lamp anchors access to him, but Soldamyr remains a sentient magician with his own memories, expertise, reactions, and agency—not an object owned in the ordinary sense. (Chapters 39–43, 54–60, 68–82, 104–161)
