Serin Han

Appearance

Serin is a beautiful Korean woman with pale skin, sharp eyes, a high nose, and a slender but athletic build maintained through archery. Her straight black hair initially falls a little past her shoulders and is tied into a ponytail before combat; later descriptions present it as long and flowing. Her poised appearance once made her recognizable beyond Korea as both an Olympic champion and cosmetics model, even to Hunters who had never met her personally. (Chapters 23–24, 107–108, 121, 163, 179)

To reduce the danger produced by that fame and appearance, Serin buys a mask capable of changing apparent age, sex, race, face, and voice. She repeatedly enters raids as a short, heavily bearded Middle Eastern man, called the Divine Archer, Hassan, or Mustafa by different groups. The presentation is convincing at a glance, but the mask does not alter combat-relevant proportions; Edward notices that her hand is unusually small, and her silhouette can remain feminine. These male identities are disguises belonging to Serin, not separate Hunters, and the label Mustafa does not refer to the later magician. (Chapters 32, 107–108, 150–151, 163)

Personality

Serin is disciplined, observant, and guarded. She enters Giant's Canyon unwilling to trust strangers, speaks tersely, and remains alert even after Sungjin rescues her, but her reserve is an adaptation to repeated harassment and betrayal rather than contempt for teamwork. Once another person proves dependable, she cooperates closely, shares information and items fairly, and shows a warmer, more playful manner away from immediate danger. (Chapters 23–32, 108, 113–136)

Competition and professional pride sharpen her fighting. Serin dislikes surrendering the highest contribution position, accepts difficult shots after methodical concentration, and continues firing through pain when the party depends on her suppression. That confidence is not simple recklessness: she follows sound warnings about overwhelming hidden bosses, initially resists Franz's late proposal to take an unnecessary risk, and calls for help when Beatrice's dream incapacitates him. (Chapters 151, 161–162, 179–180)

Her loyalty retains a strong moral boundary. Serin trusts Sungjin enough to call him Oppa, recruit for his alliance, and rely on his experience, yet she refuses to attack Edward merely because Sungjin demands obedience without explaining the danger. The disagreement wounds her, but she later accepts that Sungjin possesses evidence she cannot see, while he accepts that her judgment deserved respect. Their reconciliation preserves both closeness and her independence. (Chapters 113–118, 150–169, 172)

Biography

The canyon alliance

Serin enters Giant's Canyon as the famous Elite Sniper, already wary of the four men assigned to her party and unwilling to encourage a fan's familiarity. Her reserve does not prevent disciplined cooperation. She takes the rear position, identifies threats faster than the melee fighters, shoots moving eyes and exposed vital points, and uses Rain of Arrows to pin clustered ogres after Sungjin freezes them. Even after he leaves the formation, her precision continues to control how every ordinary encounter begins and ends. (Chapters 23–26)

The party's apparent success turns into betrayal after the boss falls. Raj and Santiago murder Xian Wang and target Serin, whose bow is disadvantaged once Santiago closes to knife range. She resists even after being disarmed and pinned, rejects submission, and later kills Raj with an arrow after Sungjin disables him. The assault leaves her shaken and distrustful, but she chooses to follow Sungjin rather than remain exposed to the escaped Santiago, making survival a deliberate alliance rather than passive dependence on her rescuer. (Chapters 26–28)

Serin's caution becomes useful partnership during the remaining search. Her experience with canyon geology exposes the concealed Cyclops, and when Sungjin engages it, she climbs to higher ground and covers its face with Rain of Arrows, creating the opening for his decisive strike. She then helps locate Ruff Han, receives and fairly exchanges an omnibus component, and follows Sungjin's advice to complete Arabian Nights and purchase a disguise. Their farewell promise rests on demonstrated reciprocity: he offers knowledge and protection, while she contributes judgment, combat support, and trust without surrendering her own choices. (Chapters 28–32)

Becoming a Chosen One

Sungjin rediscovers Serin during the Red Dragon's Lair raid, where her disguise has allowed her to operate as the Divine Archer without renewed sexual targeting. She has already carried much of her party's combat, helped Tanabat oppose a mass troll betrayal, and retained enough composure to recognize Sungjin beneath the Adjudicator title. After he intervenes, she accepts Holy Water of Baptism, becomes a Chosen One, and immediately continues the raid on her own initiative by taking Tanabat toward the lava-fall hidden piece rather than waiting for another rescue. (Chapters 107–108)

Their Black Market meetings deepen that alliance through difficult disclosure rather than unquestioning admiration. Serin asks to call Sungjin Oppa, reminds him of his promise to reveal his real name, and uses her Eye of Jeremiah after recognizing that his foreknowledge cannot be explained by strength alone. Once she learns of Restart and the failed final group, she accepts the truth calmly, agrees to help identify candidates who are both kind and capable, and buys a Blood Vengeance copy on Sungjin's behalf. Her participation makes her a confidante and recruiter, not merely a beneficiary of shared attributes. (Chapters 112–118)

As the Chosen Ones begin regular briefings, Serin integrates strategy, equipment exchange, and independent command. She develops a reciprocal trading friendship with Nada, assembles four copies of Ashetaut, and uses Sungjin's briefings to lead her own parties toward hidden rewards. In the Greenskin Fortress, her teammates build their formation around her, follow her to the hidden boss, and survive while Arabian Nights supplies temporary defenders. By the next ten-person raid, she can suppress an army, make the decision to yield an impossible hidden piece, and complete the objective without Sungjin directing the battlefield. (Chapters 120–149, 150–162)

The Edward crisis

On the Great Plains of Barrastan, Serin is paired with Edward, the Spellmaster Sungjin has marked as uniquely dangerous. She does not dismiss the warning: she watches Edward, tests him with the Eye of Jeremiah, and plans to bring him and Sungjin into a conversation. What she observes, however, is consistent assistance delivered through his magic and staff. Edward saves her from a demon, coordinates silent attacks with her arrows, protects teammates with well-timed spells, and sacrifices reward to heal a poisoned Hunter. Serin therefore treats his present conduct as evidence that must be weighed, not ignored for the sake of obedience. (Chapters 150–153, 161–162)

When Sungjin arrives with weapons drawn, Serin reveals the Hassan disguise and repeatedly asks him to stop long enough to explain. She does not join Edward's defenders in attacking Sungjin, but she also refuses to shoot down Edward's escaping tiger after watching Sungjin threaten a party that has just fought together successfully. The refusal creates an unusually cold break between her and Sungjin. It also clarifies her position within the alliance: she is loyal enough to challenge him when his unexplained order would make her harm someone whose actions she has found honorable. (Chapters 163–166)

Serin later initiates a private meeting, and she and Sungjin apologize for judging one another from incomplete knowledge. Their agreement is not that either person's evidence disappears; it is that each will act with trust when the other sees something unavailable to them. She returns to the group's routine while checking that he is no longer angry. In the City of the Crimson Moon, she fights efficiently beside Franz Hosenfeld, weighs his proposal to face the hidden boss, and summons Sungjin only when Beatrice's dream leaves Franz helpless, demonstrating both autonomous judgment and responsible use of the alliance's safety mechanism. (Chapters 169, 172, 179–180)

Relationships

  • Sungjin becomes Serin's rescuer, confidant, and closest strategic partner after Giant's Canyon. She trusts his experience, accepts the Chosen bond, and helps build his final group, but the Edward dispute proves that this trust does not erase her moral agency. Their reconciliation is based on mutual apology and willingness to respect knowledge the other cannot yet share. (Chapters 23–32, 107–118, 121–172)

  • Nada becomes Serin's close friend and reciprocal equipment partner within the Chosen Ones. Nada advances Serin an Ashetaut copy with repayment deferred, while Serin promises favorable treatment for magic-related items; their arrangement turns alliance resources into direct mutual support rather than competition for every reward. (Chapters 121, 135–136, 144)

  • Edward earns Serin's provisional trust through protection, coordination, healing, and apparently sincere answers during Barrastan. She does not claim to know his entire history, but she refuses to condemn his present self without explanation, placing her in conflict with Sungjin when he attempts an immediate execution. (Chapters 150–164)

  • Franz Hosenfeld is a fellow Chosen One whom Serin first meets at the alliance breakfast table. They later fight as a strong ranged-and-melee pair in the City of the Crimson Moon; although she initially resists his eagerness to risk the hidden boss, she agrees after assessing their combined strength and calls Sungjin when Franz falls into Beatrice's dream. (Chapters 121, 135–149, 179–180)

  • Xian Wang admires Serin before the raids and tries to make the canyon party cooperate. He protects her from a thrown rock and dies warning her when Raj and Santiago betray the group, making his decency a sharp contrast to the attackers who exploit the same party. (Chapters 23–27)

  • Santiago is the canyon assassin who joins Raj in murdering Xian and then attempts to assault Serin. Sungjin and Cain interrupt him, but he escapes temporarily; the encounter confirms why Serin's reserve and later disguise are survival measures rather than vanity. (Chapters 24–27)

Skills and abilities

  • Elite archery: Olympic training gives Serin exceptional aim, timing, and repeatability even before supernatural equipment amplifies her. She hits moving eyes, heads, hands, hearts, airborne targets, and distant commanders, while the Head Hunter title increases damage when an arrow strikes the head. At roughly two hundred meters she still lands the opening shot on Zeratar after controlling her breathing and focus. (Chapters 23–31, 107, 151, 161)

  • Sustained ranged control: Serin does more than deliver finishing shots. She chooses targets that protect a formation, wounds hands before projectiles can be thrown, suppresses reinforcements, tears alarm drums, and keeps entire groups from surrounding her frontline. This work can exhaust her shoulders and arms during prolonged battles, and close-range attackers remain dangerous if they bypass her formation. (Chapters 24–27, 152–153, 161–162)

  • Rain of Arrows: The weapon skill duplicates a single shot into a broad aerial volley. Serin uses it to punish clustered ogres and, more precisely, to blanket the Cyclops's face so that it raises a hand to protect its eye and carries Sungjin into striking range. The spread is powerful battlefield control, though it does not replace the penetration of a concentrated single shot against a colossal target. (Chapters 24 and 28–30)

  • Ashetaut frost archery: Her upgraded crystal bow applies accumulating cold that slows targets and can produce follow-up arrows. Serin uses repeated hits to kite demons while continuing to fire in retreat, allowing her to shape enemy movement even when a clean headshot is deflected. The bow's control is strongest when she has distance, aerial repositioning, or a guard preventing enemies from entering melee range. (Chapters 136 and 151–162)

  • Summons and aerial repositioning: Rinesh'kha, called Rin, guards Serin by clawing and pecking enemies who close on her, giving her time to resume shooting. Sylphid-driven equipment lets her float, retreat through the air, and continue firing, while the Fairy cape also redirects projectiles. These tools protect her firing rhythm but do not make collisions or attacks from several directions impossible. (Chapters 108 and 151)

  • Arabian Nights manifestations: The completed omnibus manifests forces from its changing stories. Ali Baba's thieves screen Serin while she attacks the Greenskin hidden boss, and the Roc scatters a demon army by seizing and dropping soldiers. Its major use is treated as a once-per-day resource, so Serin chooses whether to reserve it for a hidden boss or commit it to a main battle according to the day's danger. (Chapters 31–32, 140–142, 151, 161–162)

  • Threat assessment and leadership: Serin combines briefings, observation, and her own judgment to guide parties toward hidden objectives without mistaking every reward for a mandatory fight. She can become the formation's center, decide when to surrender a hidden piece to an overwhelmingly superior being, and request Sungjin only after her own party encounters a crisis it cannot reverse. (Chapters 140–142, 149–162, 179–180)

Equipment

  • Ashetaut is Serin's Unique Legendary crystal bow, assembled by combining copies obtained through her own rewards, Sungjin, Nada, and the auction. Its arrows apply cumulative slowing frost and generate follow-up shots, supporting both precision kills and sustained kiting. (Chapters 135–136, 151–162)

  • Arabian Nights, also called One Thousand and One Nights, is the legendary omnibus Serin completes after trading for one component and buying the remainder. Its stories temporarily manifest figures or creatures such as Ali Baba's thieves and the Roc, giving her protection and large-scale battlefield force beyond ordinary archery. (Chapters 31–32, 140–142, 151, 161–162)

  • Eye of Jeremiah is a purple earring whose Legilimency reads surface thoughts for a short interval after activation. Serin uses it to expose Sungjin's concealed regression and later tests Edward's answers, although a matching spoken and surface response does not reveal every fact or future intention. (Chapters 113 and 150–153)

  • Hassan disguise mask: Purchased from the Raccoon Merchant after Giant's Canyon, the mask changes Serin's apparent sex, race, age, features, and voice without improving combat reach or altering underlying proportions. Its bearded male presentation lets her avoid recognition and unwanted attention across later raids. (Chapters 32, 107–108, 150–163)

  • Rinesh'kha's egg: The egg summons Rin, a large crimson falcon that intercepts enemies approaching Serin while she shoots. She ordinarily reserves the summon for bosses, reflecting its value as limited close-range protection rather than a permanently present pet. (Chapter 151)

  • Fairy cape and Sylphid equipment: The cape channels wind for flight and projectile deflection, while later green-lit equipment also supports aerial movement under the Sylphid command. Together they let Serin reposition without ending her attack sequence, though they do not prevent a collision from knocking her down. (Chapters 108 and 151)

  • Eye of the Cyclops ring: This early raid reward briefly doubles Serin's Strength through Strength of Giants. Its three-second window is short, but it gives one arrow enough force to pierce a giant metal cooking pot, adding a concentrated power option alongside Rain of Arrows. (Chapters 29–30)

  • Rakrua goggles: The goggles reveal the movement of living bodies through their heat, allowing Serin to keep targeting enemies inside the dust raised by Edward's Meteor Strike. They supply perception rather than direct offense and are removed once normal visibility returns. (Chapter 161)
