Munir
Munir Yusef is an Algerian ranged Hunter assigned to the Kutan Desert party. His rapid crossbow fire, battlefield warnings, and Frostbite spell support a conventional formation, but dissatisfaction with his reward leads him to join Igor's plan to abandon two teammates. Igor then exposes the bargain as a second trap and kills Munir as well. (Chapters 34–38)
Appearance
Munir is a tall, thin man with a long beard whom Sungjin initially describes as Arabian in appearance. He comes from Algeria and carries an expensive crossbow suited to his High Level Scout title. The desert setting also provides him with a turban, which he uses as an improvised rope during an emergency. (Chapters 34–35)
Personality
Munir is observant and initially cooperative. He warns the vanguard about attacks outside the tank's sightline, provides ranged support, and throws his own turban to pull Bukitai away from a Sandworm. That conduct does not survive pressure from the contribution system: when Igor offers a private advantage, Munir agrees to let Ralph and Bukitai die and lies about having no mana. (Chapters 35–38)
Biography
Kutan Desert
Munir takes the rear position in the desert party while Bukitai, Igor, and Ralph form the front and middle line. He fires quick groups of bolts, roots or slows monsters with Frostbite, warns Bukitai about a scorpion's tail, and helps pull the tank out of collapsing sand. Against the Basilisk, Igor directs him to attack from behind and avoid its petrifying eyes. (Chapters 34–36)
After the boss falls, Munir accepts Igor's proposal to improve their rewards by withholding aid. He falsely claims to be out of mana, watches a Sandworm kill Ralph, and leaves Bukitai to two giant lizards before helping Igor finish the enemies. Munir treats the result as a successful transaction, but Igor chose him because he was both dissatisfied and comparatively weak. Igor severs his hand, withstands repeated Frostbite, and kills him despite the troll penalty. (Chapters 38–39)
Relationships
- Igor: Munir first follows Igor's effective tactical commands and later trusts his secret bargain. Igor never regards him as an equal partner; he selects Munir as the easiest accomplice to recruit and defeat, then takes the penalty for killing him because the expected reward remains favorable. (Chapters 36 and 38–39)
- Bukitai: Munir rescues Bukitai from a Sandworm early in the raid and supplies the slowing magic that helps his tanking. He later lies about his mana and watches Bukitai die, turning a demonstrated cooperative bond into part of Igor's ambush. (Chapters 35 and 38)
- Ralph: Munir fights behind Ralph and benefits from the axe wielder's front-line pressure. During the final Sandworm encounter, he ignores Ralph's calls for help as part of the contribution scheme. (Chapters 35–38)
Skills and abilities
Crossbow shooting. Munir fires several bolts in rapid succession and can place them into thinner sections of armored monsters. The crossbow gives him useful sustained damage from the rear, but heavily plated claws can deflect its shots, and his ranged advantage disappears when Igor closes the distance. (Chapters 35 and 38)
Frostbite. Munir can cast a low-class blue spell that freezes the ground and roots or slows a target. His magic investment is secondary to crossbow statistics, so the affected area and stopping power are limited. Repeated emergency casts drain his mana, and the spell delays Igor without creating a secure escape. (Chapters 35 and 38)
Equipment
- Crossbow: Munir's costly crossbow can release bolts in quick groups and serves as his primary weapon throughout Kutan Desert. Its specific name and item grade are not stated. (Chapters 34–38)
- Turban: Issued for the desert environment, Munir's head cloth becomes an improvised rescue line when Bukitai begins sinking toward a Sandworm. (Chapter 35)
