Khal Gal

Appearance

Khal Gal is an enormous red dragon whose spread wings make his already massive body appear twice as large. He has armor-like scales, spear-length claws, a long neck, and yellow eyes with slit pupils, presenting the unmistakable profile of a mature aerial predator. (Chapter 98)

Personality

Khal Gal wakes arrogant and amused by the Hunters who enter his chamber. He initially treats them as insignificant prey, but his attention sharpens when he recognizes Sungjin as the principal danger to him. (Chapters 97–99)

His brutality extends beyond the raid battle. Ariane later reveals that her child killed his own dragon siblings to take their hearts, a history that explains why she calls him a problem child and refuses to avenge him. (Chapters 102–103)

Biography

Dragon's Lair

Khal Gal guards the Dragon's Lair as its central boss, awakening when the Hunters reach his chamber. He attacks from the air with physical force, red magic, and sustained flame, repeatedly disrupting the party's formation while singling Sungjin out as the opponent most capable of killing him. (Chapters 97–99)

The raid party gradually exploits the X-shaped wound opened on his neck. Concentrated attacks, reflected magic, temporary fire immunity, and pressure on his wings limit his advantages until Sungjin completes the killing sequence. Khal Gal's defeat clears the boss stage and opens the hidden aftermath surrounding the Dragon Hearts. (Chapters 98–102)

Ariane then identifies the fallen dragon as her child. She returns the hearts Khal Gal stole from murdered siblings and judges his actions without denying the pain of his death, complicating the system's presentation of him as only a monster to be cleared. (Chapters 102–103)

Later Dragon's Lair dimensions instantiate the same canonical Khal Gal raid-boss identity rather than introducing separate named dragons. Sungjin kills Khal Gal again after Nada's emergency summons and defeats another instance after Aio-amplified Frostbite freezes the dragon and the surrounding magma, demonstrating how rapidly his anti-dragon capabilities have grown. (Chapters 109–110)

Relationships

Ariane is Khal Gal's mother. She mourns him, identifies his corpse, and acknowledges his kinship, but his murder of her other children prevents that grief from becoming a demand for revenge. (Chapters 102–103)

Sungjin is Khal Gal's primary enemy across raid dimensions. Khal Gal recognizes him as the greatest threat during the first battle, and Sungjin later uses the rewards and knowledge gained after that victory to defeat subsequent instances more decisively. (Chapters 98–100 and 109–110)

Skills and abilities

Khal Gal possesses immense draconic strength, armor-like scales, flight, spear-length claws, tail sweeps, and strong resistance to fear. His long neck, short forelimbs, damaged wings, and the party's concentrated attacks on an existing wound create exploitable limits. (Chapters 98–100)

He commands red magic at a source-like level, producing a colossal Fireball and a sustained breath attack that divides and ignites the cavern. He can also call hellhound and demihuman servants, although reflected fire, temporary immunity, and coordinated attacks blunt these advantages. (Chapters 98–100 and 109)

Ordinary magical control has limited effect on him, but his resistance is not absolute. Aio-amplified Frostbite overwhelms it, freezing Khal Gal so completely that the final encountered instance can barely resist the follow-up attack. (Chapters 99 and 110)

Equipment

Khal Gal uses no conventional equipment. His scales, wings, claws, teeth, tail, fire breath, and innate magic function as his armor and weapons. (Chapters 98–100)
