Henrik

Henrik Sondegaard is a cautious axe user who tries to turn the Greysoul Cemetery's strangers into a working team. His direct offense is modest beside Akanna, Hiroaki, and Sungjin, but he supplies light, encourages formation discipline, survives the hidden-boss disaster, and offers Sungjin humane perspective after two teammates die. (Chapters 15–21)

Appearance

Henrik is a tall white man from Northern Europe who carries an axe. He also brings a lantern into the cemetery and often remains near the light while the stronger close-range fighters move ahead. (Chapters 15–17)

Personality

Henrik is sociable, cautious, and oriented toward group survival. He initiates introductions, repeatedly encourages teamwork, worries when Sungjin leaves alone, and prefers safety to reckless pursuit of enemies. Fear can overwhelm him during supernatural encounters, but he recovers enough after Oryx's defeat to comfort Sungjin rather than blame him for deaths he could not prevent. (Chapters 15–21)

Biography

Greysoul Cemetery

Henrik introduces himself first and tries to rally the newly formed party. He arranges a formation with himself and Hiroaki in front, Akanna in the middle, and Kultu behind, while the two lanterns cover both ends. Early undead fights show his limits—he initially fails to account for a zombie ignoring pain—but he accepts Akanna's protection, supplies light where asked, and adjusts to companions whose abilities exceed his own. (Chapters 15–18)

After the party defeats Deathmond, Henrik and Kultu wait while the others pursue further objectives. Oryx's accelerated horde kills Kultu and Akanna and reanimates both against the survivors, leaving Henrik terrified and unable to fight effectively. He nevertheless survives until Sungjin destroys Oryx. Once he recovers, Henrik tells Sungjin that the deaths were not his fault and that completing the raids is now the only help they can give the fallen. (Chapters 18–21)

Relationships

  • Kultu: Henrik and Kultu share lantern duty, cautious conversation, and the less aggressive positions in the party. Henrik witnesses Kultu's death and reanimation during Oryx's attack. (Chapters 15–21)
  • Akanna: Akanna saves Henrik from a zombie and becomes one of the fighters Henrik relies on most. Henrik is stunned when Akanna is killed, raised, and forced to attack Sungjin. (Chapters 16–21)
  • Sungjin: Henrik initially tries to keep Sungjin with the party and later recognizes how far the swordsman's ability exceeds theirs. After the final fight, Henrik offers him reassurance about the teammates they could not save. (Chapters 15–21)
  • Watanabe Hiroaki: Henrik places Hiroaki beside him in the front and relies on the younger swordsman's speed against undead. He also tries to steady Hiroaki during the ghost encounter and the group's early disputes. (Chapters 15–18)

Skills and abilities

Axe combat. Henrik fights at the front with an axe and can dismember ordinary undead, though his early mistake against a pain-insensitive zombie nearly gets him bitten. The corpus presents him as a serviceable rather than exceptional attacker. (Chapters 16–18)

Cautious leadership. Henrik initiates introductions, proposes cooperation, arranges the group's positions, manages light coverage, and checks whether approaching danger should be investigated. His authority is informal and readily yields when more capable specialists demonstrate better knowledge. (Chapters 15–21)

Equipment

  • Axe: Henrik's primary weapon for front-line defense against cemetery undead. (Chapters 15–21)
  • Lantern: Henrik and Kultu carry lanterns at opposite ends of the formation, making movement and combat possible in the cemetery's darkness. (Chapters 16–20)
