Sinbrok

Sinbrok is a dwarf wizard and teaching assistant who invigilates Alex Roth's examination for credit in mana manipulation.

Biography

Invigilating Alex's mana examination

Sinbrok conducts Alex's written and practical examination with clear rules, anti-cheating safeguards, and a progression of tests covering sustained spells, internal mana movement, and magical devices. Alex's modified forceball, sensitivity, and simultaneous solution of the Arrarubix Box repeatedly astonish him, but Sinbrok continues documenting the performance rather than obstructing an exceptional candidate. He awards full practical marks, welcomes Alex to the honours list, and encourages him to work with the department, making the examination both a measurement of skill and an early institutional recognition of Alex's unusual mana talent. (Chapters 82–83)

Supporting Amir at the Games

Sinbrok later appears among Amir's friends during the Great Water Hunt. When Ursula's anger at gods draws public attention and risks worsening suspicion around Amir, Sinbrok joins the others in urging restraint. He is uncomfortable rather than domineering and accepts her apology, demonstrating loyalty to the group without claiming that her criticism of deities is factually baseless. (Chapters 222–223)

Appearance and personality

Sinbrok is an exceptionally short, massively muscled dwarf with a shaved head, a braided golden beard, and several silvery metal prosthetic teeth. He is matter-of-fact, fair, good-humoured, and increasingly expressive when confronted with extraordinary results. Around friends he is cautious about unwanted public attention and quick to support de-escalation. (Chapters 82–83 and 222–223)

Magic, abilities, and skills

Sinbrok teleports sealed examinations for marking, enlarges and suspends disruption rings, senses and manipulates mana through testing devices, and uses enchanted gloves to monitor internal mana flow. The rings interfere with a student's connection to a sustained spell, while his metal exam seal can detect tampering, scream an alarm, and mark the culprit's name. The source does not state that he created these devices himself. (Chapters 82–83)
