Angelar

Angelar is a canine beastfolk wizard in the Art of the Wizard in Combat. He distinguishes himself through keen senses, coordinated tactics, and a willingness to re-enter danger after being hurt, later remaining part of Alex Roth’s wider university circle.

Biography

Lessons and Gods to The Grand Battle Begins

Angelar enters Baelin’s course with Caramiyus and Nua-Oge. Their group uses stealth, hearing, smell, and careful movement to preserve mana and avoid most threats, and although an ambush costs them a companion, Baelin recognises that they tried to protect one another. In the mana-vent exercise, Angelar rejects Minervus’s disruptive isolation, helps stun and bind vent-drinkers with magic bolts, smoke, light, and Nua-Oge’s ice, and applies the course’s central lesson that combined resources matter more than individual pride. (Chapters 45 and 59–60)

During the solo Barrens test, Angelar joins Alex, Grimloch, and Thundar after securing his orb. An earth elemental nearly kills him, but once Thundar helps him recover, Angelar insists on fighting back rather than withdrawing. His anger is channelled into the group’s plan, and their coordinated counterattack lets the students finish the threat. The experience strengthens a network that extends beyond class into shared meals and gatherings with Alex’s friends. (Chapters 78–102)

Reunions with the combat class

Angelar reunites with former classmates at the Games of Roal, arriving with Caramiyus in werewolf masks and readily joining the group’s food, drink, and teasing. His participation supplies no new combat feat, but it shows that the tactical trust built in Baelin’s course has matured into durable friendship rather than ending when the lessons do. (Chapters 403–404)

He later attends Alex’s housewarming with Caramiyus and Rayne, again joining much of the old combat class, and remains connected to that circle through the end of the war. The later evidence does not establish a new rank, profession, or signature spell, so his latest state is limited to being alive and socially present among his former classmates. (Chapters 500 and 905)

Appearance and personality

Angelar is a doberman-like canine beastfolk with sharp hearing and smell. Heat leaves him panting with his tongue out, while anger makes him bare his teeth and growl. He is blunt, group-minded, and courageous: he criticises choices that weaken cooperation, tries to protect companions in ambushes, and seeks another chance against the elemental that nearly kills him. (Chapters 45, 59, and 78–80)

Magic, abilities, and skills

Angelar uses superior hearing and scent for threat detection and tactical movement. In spell combat he is shown firing magic bolts and participating in a combined capture plan that uses smoke, flashes of light, and ice to disorient and immobilise targets. The scenes do not isolate which auxiliary effects he casts rather than Caramiyus or Nua-Oge, so only the magic bolts can be assigned to him individually with confidence. (Chapters 45 and 60)

His effectiveness depends on positioning and allies. Keen senses help his team avoid encounters, but they do not prevent every ambush; offensive magic contributes to captures, but stronger enemies can badly injure him. No formal spell tier or later magical progression is stated in the supplied corpus. (Chapters 45 and 78–80)
