Blade of Resonance
The Blade of Resonance is a specialized dagger whose fragments can sever mana circuits and whose structure becomes the model for Vanitas's modified anti-magic ammunition.
History
Fragments Inside Index
Vanitas brings the blade into Index by chipping it into pieces small enough to conceal during inspection. Because the material can cut mana circuits when the user understands the correct point of attack, he secretly gives fragments to Edmund and Mikhail. They use those pieces to breach cuffs and barriers, enabling the prison escape on which his plan depends. (Chapter 48)
Capacity Exhausted and Design Reused
After the crisis, Vanitas infers that the blade has exceeded its intended capacity through repeated barrier dismantling and the absorption of Master-ranked spells. Its effects also carry an activation lag and finite uses, preventing it from serving as an unlimited anti-magic solution. He nevertheless reuses its operating structure when he configures special bullets that shed their enchantment after activation and revert to ordinary ammunition. (Chapters 51 and 72)
Abilities and properties
- Cuts through mana circuits, including barriers, only when the user knows where to strike. (Chapter 48)
- Can be divided into functional fragments suitable for concealed use. (Chapter 48)
- Has an activation delay and a limited total usage capacity; dismantling barriers and absorbing multiple Master-ranked spells exhausts it. (Chapter 51)
- Its structure can be adapted into temporary anti-magic effects on ammunition. (Chapter 72)
