Great Elder Ao Lan

Great Elder Ao Lan is the Beast Clan's highest leader and the third-ranked Demigod, directing the Sorcerer Palace's opposition to the Xia Clan. The names Great Elder Ao Lan and Elder Ao Lan refer to the same figure without collision. His later record is fragmented, however, and Chapter 402 ends with his acceptance of defeat rather than a clear statement of death or survival. (Chapters 92, 147, 239–264, and 402)

Biography

Transcendence and the Xia Clan

Ao Lan enters the conflict as a senior Beast Clan strategist with a condensed True Life Spirit. His mastery of the True Meaning of Life makes his actions difficult to predict, and before Chi Qiu Bai emerges he is described as the only known cultivator to possess a third-grade True Meaning. This combination makes him both political leader and unusual Demigod threat. (Chapters 92 and 147)

From the Sorcerer Palace, Ao Lan follows the campaign against Dong Bo Xue Ying and trusts the Sorcerer God's poison to remove him. Xue Ying's survival overturns that expectation and exposes a decisive misjudgment at the center of the Beast Clan's plans. (Chapters 239–264)

By Chapter 402, Ao Lan recognizes that the Beast Clan has lost and regrets having underestimated Xue Ying. He closes his eyes in resignation, but the surviving passage does not establish whether he is executed, killed in battle, or left alive. (Chapter 402)

Appearance and personality

Ao Lan is described as a white-haired old man who reads within a wooden house. His stillness and confidence suit a long-established leader, while his reaction to Xue Ying's survival shows that confidence hardening into disbelief before giving way to sober regret. (Chapters 239, 249, 264, and 402)
