Biography

Life in Klein's Era

Talim descends from a noble family that has fallen into poverty and works as an equestrian teacher, including teaching Viscount Conrad's son. Through the Quelaag Club he befriends Sherlock Moriarty, introduces him to clients and investment opportunities, and recommends him to Prince Edessak. Talim hopes social connections can restore some of what his family lost, but he is more generous and companionable than calculating. (Chapters 245, 344, 409)

Talim becomes caught between his friend Edessak and Trissy. He initially tries to persuade Trissy to leave the prince, but under a larger manipulation she seduces him as part of her attempted escape. Talim falls genuinely in love, confides in Sherlock about the unfamiliar feeling, and then dies abruptly from what appears to be a heart attack. Trissy later realizes that a curse attached to her actions killed him, making Talim an ordinary casualty of a plot he never understood. (Chapters 409, 437, 470)

Appearance and personality

Talim has short brown curls and the polished habits of someone raised around nobility despite reduced means. He is warm, sociable, fond of cards, tennis, and club life, and eager to help friends make useful connections. Talim is an ordinary human with no established pathway or supernatural power. He is a skilled riding instructor and an effective social intermediary familiar with noble households, clubs, and introductions. Relationships

Edessak is Talim's close friend and patron, and the prince intends to help restore the Dumont title. Klein Moretti, as Sherlock, becomes a club companion whom Talim repeatedly recommends. Talim also socializes with Aaron Ceres and Mike Joseph. His coerced entanglement with Trissy produces genuine love on his side and unintended guilt on hers after his death.
