Life in Klein's Era

Shermane, initially known in the narration as Sherman, was a trans woman and one of Xio Derecha's East Borough informants. Years of ostracism made Trissy Cheek's offer of potions that could give her a female body irresistible, and she accepted service and ritual obligations as their price. (Chapters 820–999)

Trissy cultivated Shermane through the Assassin and Instigator stages, encouraging revenge killings and gang violence before promising that a third potion would complete her transformation. Although nightmares and guilt made Shermane resist further instigation, the hope of living openly as herself led her onward; as a Demoness, she became Viscount Stratford's lover and investigated his true allegiance for Trissy. (Chapters 999–1019)

When Xio recognized her, Shermane resisted the urge to kill one of the few people who had treated her kindly. Trissy then used her as bait for Stratford, whose betrayal and purification attack pushed her toward irreversible loss of control; after Xio and Fors Wall intervened, Shermane asked Xio to end her suffering and to use her chosen name, and Xio honored both requests. (Chapters 1018–1022)

Appearance and personality

Before her transformation, Shermane had shoulder-length brown hair, softened facial features, thinned brows, and cheap makeup. Afterward she was a beautiful young woman with a feminine figure and mesmerizing charm; she could be naïve about promised love, but her remorse, refusal to kill Xio, and final insistence on her name showed empathy and self-knowledge that survived Trissy's manipulation. Pathways and abilities

Shermane advanced along the Demoness pathway through Assassin and Instigator to an unstated Demoness Sequence. She possessed assassination and anti-tracking skills, supernatural charm, instigation, black flames, frost, and the early signs of a Demoness's transformed hair, but she was newly cultivated, psychologically unstable, and unable to resist Trissy's bindings or the purification that triggered her loss of control. (Chapters 999–1022)

Relationships

Trissy granted Shermane the transformation she desired while manipulating her into murder and espionage. Stratford offered romance, marriage, and motherhood but used those promises as leverage, whereas Xio's consistent kindness caused Shermane to spare her and later trust her with her final request. (Chapters 820–1022)

Items

Shermane used ordinary disguise materials and weapons during her work, but no enduring personal mystical item is named. Stratford's Unshadowed Crucifix acted against her through purification and was never her possession. (Chapters 999–1022)
