Padre Cali
Padre Cali is the Eternal Blazing Sun priest assigned to Tizamo. His ambition and complicity with Twanaku turn Saint-Sien Cathedral into a site of abuse and blasphemy, but after the Dream Festival he accepts responsibility and submits to purification.
Biography
Cordu, Trier, and the Approaching Apocalypse
Cali rises from a cathedral servant in Port Pylos to become Tizamo's padre, craving recognition and a position on the Northern Continent. That ambition makes him receptive to Twanaku and Hisoka's network. He accepts a Wraith boon tied to the ancient tomb, abuses younger men under his authority, and participates in blasphemous gatherings in Saint-Sien Cathedral, including a relationship with Robert. (Chapters 2098, 2110, 2131)
During the Dream Festival, Cali uses possession, mirror movement, and a lethal shriek against Lumian's group. The festival's mass destruction kills his projected form; on waking, he understands that the corresponding damage leaves him only days to live. He neither bargains for rescue nor denies his choices. Instead he confesses that temptation did not erase his agency, manifests his Wraith form before the Sun emblem, and deliberately does not evade the purifying holy light that kills him. (Chapters 2110–2116, 2127–2131)
Appearance and personality
Cali has dark brown skin reflecting his West Balam ancestry, sunken eyes, thin black hair, and a sinister cast to his face. He wears elaborate black-and-white clerical robes threaded with gold. He is ambitious, exploitative, and secretive for much of his ministry, but his final repentance is lucid and unsentimental rather than an attempt to escape judgment. (Chapters 2110, 2130–2131)
Pathways and abilities
Cali's supernatural power is a Wraith boon rather than a confirmed potion-pathway advancement. It lets him become an incorporeal spirit, possess bodies, move through reflections, and release a damaging shriek; its displayed level is roughly comparable to Sequence 5. His projection's death feeds back onto his waking body, demonstrating the boon and Dream Festival's severe shared vulnerability. (Chapters 2110–2116, 2127–2128)
Relationships
Twanaku exploits Cali's ambition and makes him part of the conspiracy surrounding Tizamo and Hisoka. Robert is both his lover and one of the young men caught in the corrupted cathedral culture. Lumian Lee and Rhea oppose him during the dream, while Cali's final act places judgment in the hands of the deity he betrayed. (Chapters 2110, 2127, 2131)
Items
Cali uses the church's Sun Bible, altar, and sacred emblem in his clerical role, but none is established as his private mystical property. His Wraith power comes from a boon rather than a carried artifact. (Chapters 2098, 2130–2131)
