Denton is Donna's younger brother, a child passenger who encounters Gehrman Sparrow and the supernatural during a family sea voyage.

Biography

Life in Klein's Era

Denton travels with Donna, their parents, Cleves, and Cecile aboard the White Agate. When Cecile accidentally wakes the children and takes them along during a dangerous night, Denton's curiosity repeatedly overcomes his uncertainty: he asks about pirates, zombies, and messengers and watches Gehrman Sparrow protect the group from occult threats. The experience leaves him frightened at points but fascinated by the hidden world. (Chapters 493–513)

Later, Denton repeats public rumors that “Uncle Sparrow” is a murderer and cultist. His report clashes with the children's direct memory of being protected, showing how Gehrman's feared reputation overtakes the private impression formed during the voyage. Denton is still alive with his family at his latest appearance. (Chapter 737)

Appearance and personality

Denton is a young boy whose detailed physical features are not established. He is imaginative, excitable, candid, and eager to turn frightening events into questions about adventure, although he remains dependent on the adults around him for safety. (Chapters 493–513)

Pathways and abilities

Denton is an ordinary child with no pathway, boon, combat training, or supernatural ability. His survival comes from the protection of the travelers and Gehrman rather than from any power of his own. (Chapters 493–513)

Relationships

Donna is Denton's older sister and closest companion during the voyage. Cecile and Cleves are the adults responsible for the children's protection, while Gehrman becomes the alarming but effective “Uncle Sparrow” whose actions and reputation Denton tries to reconcile. (Chapters 493–513, 737)
