Arianna

Arianna is the Evernight Cloister's matron, leader of the Church of Evernight's ascetics, head of its thirteen archbishops, and a Sequence 2 Servant of Concealment. She repeatedly acts as Klein Moretti's angel-level ally, isolating battles from fate and collateral damage, exposing George III's hidden ritual, and helping contain the Trunsoest Brass Book. Biography

Role in the Central Conflict

Arianna first answers Klein's prayer for help against Amon's Backlund avatars. She gives him an Evernight coat of arms that can connect to her anywhere in the real world and promises to conceal the operation from fate, while candidly warning that she cannot guarantee every avatar's elimination. Klein combines that protection with Pallez Zoroast's plan, clears the avatars, and offers Arianna part of the resulting Worms of Time. She accepts two and warns him that Amon will infer something from the operation. (Chapters 992 and 1008)

When Klein uncovers Qonas Kilgor's connection to secret royal ruins, Arianna creates a concealed world around Maygur Manor so Klein can fight without damaging reality or alerting the power behind Qonas. After the victory, she pulls out and interrogates Qonas's soul under Concealment, bypassing the self-destructive restrictions on his testimony. His answers confirm George III's involvement with Blood Emperor ruins, and Arianna immediately brings the archbishops of the Storm and Steam Churches into a joint raid rather than keep the discovery as a sectarian advantage. The raid is deceived by prepared evidence and political caution, but Arianna continues investigating the king, the Demoness Sect, and Hvin Rambis. Her support makes Klein's later assault on the secret mausoleum possible. Klein can summon her historical projection during angel-level battles, and the real Arianna can apparently enter Concealment so deeply that her projection gains awareness or carries her response. After the God of Combat falls, Arianna tracks the escaped chief shepherd Larrion to Belltaine, where the living Grade 0 artifact 0-02 has replaced local rules. At the decisive moment, Arianna touches the Trunsoest Brass Book before its new prohibition can be publicized and conceals the first clause. Appearance and personality

Arianna appears as a woman with ordinary features, long black hair, and dark, serene eyes. She wears a simple or patched linen robe secured by a tree-bark belt and walks barefoot, reflecting her leadership of the ascetics rather than the ornament expected of a senior archbishop. She is pious, austere, direct, and notably free of angelic condescension. Arianna asks to be called “Ma'am,” discusses plans with Klein as an equal, accepts a fair share of spoils without false modesty, and gives succinct warnings about what she cannot guarantee. Her restraint is strategic rather than passive: when evidence is sufficient, she favors immediate capture, a joint Church raid, or personal contact with a lethal Grade 0 artifact. Arianna is a Sequence 2 Servant of Concealment of the Evernight pathway. Her Church offices and angel rank are established at her first appearance and do not change in the supplied corpus. Arianna can isolate an area into a concealed world that outside fate, divination, and observation cannot easily pry into. Battles inside need not damage the corresponding real location, and secrets or souls that would self-destruct under ordinary questioning can be held long enough for interrogation. This authority is broad but not absolute. Arianna tells Klein she cannot guarantee that every Amon avatar will be destroyed, and maintaining a concealed battlefield while screening a hidden royal angel consumes enough attention that Klein must conduct the direct fight. Arianna can put guards to sleep instantly, draw a dead person's soul from a marionette, return it afterward, and compel testimony within her concealed domain. She can also bless an ally with misfortune that disrupts an opponent's actions. These effects are innate Evernight powers or angel-level extensions of them; they are not produced by the coat of arms, which only establishes the connection needed for her response. Historical projections and angelic response

Klein repeatedly summons Arianna from the Historical Void. Unlike an ordinary projection, she can gain awareness and act according to her own judgment when the real Arianna responds from Concealment. The exact mechanism remains Klein's theory, and he cannot reliably determine whether she has descended personally or is controlling the projection.
