Tongshang Sword

The Tongshang Sword is a high-tier Ascendant Cloud Sword Pavilion weapon forged by Ouyang Qingfeng, the Forsaken Continent's third-ranked blacksmith. Its power is comparable to a Heavenly High Immortal, and its proud spirit normally makes winning full acknowledgment difficult. (Chapters 1,988–1,989)

History

Bestowed and forcibly persuaded

Han Jianqiu gives the sealed sword to Zhang Xuan after recognizing his swordsmanship and need for protection. The sword initially resists because Zhang's cultivation seems too low. Zhang identifies its origin and flaws, while the voracious Dongxu Gourd swallows and threatens it; under that pressure, Tongshang accepts Zhang and reaches Sword-Man Union with him. (Chapters 1,988–1,990, 2,000)

Weapon against the Hall of Gods

Zhang uses Tongshang and the Gods' Sword Intent against Hall of Gods experts, severing limbs and contending with Heavenly High Immortal defenses. Other pavilion leaders are shocked that he tamed it so quickly. The sword remains wary of the Dongxu Gourd's appetite and objects when Zhang's treatment of other weapons appears to cripple them, showing that its artifact spirit continues acting independently under the contract. (Chapters 1,999–2,003, 2,011, 2,083–2,093)

Abilities and properties

Tongshang releases Heavenly High Immortal-level sword qi, supports Sword-Man Union, and greatly amplifies the Gods' Sword Intent. Its spirit can evaluate other artifacts and communicate, but also has pride and fear that affect its willingness to cooperate. Heat and opponents at the upper edge of the Azure can still threaten Zhang even while he wields it. (Chapters 1,988–2,011, 2,083)
