Ethereal Token

An Ethereal Token connects its user's consciousness to the Ethereal Hall, the Forsaken Continent's universal market and training network. It is both an identity-bound access device and one endpoint of the Hall's item-teleportation system, with specialized versions keyed to different cultivation levels and authorities. History

Entry into the Ethereal Hall

Dan Xiaotian explains the token to the newly ascended Zhang Xuan: tokens are sold in most cities and give cultivators access to techniques, medicine, trade, advancement services, and even hired killers. Zhang obtains tokens, uses anonymous avatars such as “I Am Low Profile,” and destroys one when he fears that the avatar has been recognized. The owner-binding prevents another person from simply taming a dead user's token. (Chapters 1,915–1,972, 2,004, 2,017)

From parcel transport to bodily escape

Palace Master Du deduces that the token's ordinary delivery function is genuine spatial teleportation. Kong shi combines it with other spatial artifacts to move a real body through the illusory Hall, while Zhang devises a narrower method: he hides inside a folded space placed in a storage ring and has the ring bought and teleported through an auction listing. The plan works, but Kong shi's golden hall-master token lets him trace the network transaction, revealing that central authority can monitor movements through the system. (Chapters 2,089–2,099)

Abilities and properties

Touching a token transfers the bound owner's consciousness into the Ethereal Hall while the body remains outside. The network authenticates identity, supports cultivation-specific avatars and services, and teleports purchased objects between token endpoints. Tokens self-destruct or become unusable if another person attempts to seize ownership. With a folded-space container or the Paragon Blackmirror, their object teleportation can indirectly transport living bodies, but doing so risks loss in spatial cracks and remains traceable by the hall master.
