Zhao Bingxu

Zhao Bingxu is the head of Hongyuan Master Teacher Academy's Blacksmith School and one of its Ten Great Master Teachers. He is initially ambitious enough to investigate the missing Byzantium Helios Beast partly because rescuing it could make him principal, but the threat from the Otherworldly Demons also gives the mission genuine institutional urgency. (Chapter 738)

Biography

The Byzantium Helios and the academy succession

Zhao verifies the return of Wu Yangzi's remains and recognizes Luo Qiqi as a promising blacksmith. After Zhang Xuan rescues the academy's guardian beast and is chosen as the next principal, Zhao puts aside his own candidacy. He helps keep the succession secret, contacts outside powers for the inauguration, and warns visiting academy heads that Zhang Xuan's unconventional methods can make apparently impossible outcomes real. His final role is that of a loyal senior administrator who publicizes Zhang Xuan's exceptional smithing rather than competing with him. (Chapters 738, 849, 927–1,031)

Appearance and personality

Zhao is an elderly, bearded master teacher who carries the authority of a school head. He is cautious about established technical distinctions and initially doubts that a weapon cauldron can forge pills, yet changes course once Zhang Xuan explains a workable formation. His ambition remains subordinate to academy safety and collective decisions. (Chapters 738, 846–849)

Abilities and cultivation

Zhao is a 6-star pinnacle blacksmith with enough expertise to evaluate Wu Yangzi's legacy, recognize the normal limits of artifact forging, and oversee the academy's smithing school. He also understands specialized artifacts such as the Copper Bell, which nourishes a soul while safely severing a fragment. His expertise is substantial but explicitly below Wu Yangzi's, and Zhang Xuan's ability to guide the reforging of a Saint artifact exceeds the ceiling Zhao expects. (Chapters 738, 846, 943, 1,031)

Relationships

  • Zhang Xuan: Zhao moves from a potential competitor for the principalship to a discreet and loyal administrator under Zhang Xuan, supporting his inauguration and defending his unusual methods before outsiders. (Chapters 738, 849, 927–1,031)
  • Luo Qiqi: Zhao recognizes Luo Qiqi as one of the Blacksmith School's notable young talents and helps assess the mission that returns Wu Yangzi's remains. (Chapters 738, 846)
